Engine Whine/Moan

Engine Whine/Moan

when the car is ideling it is fine but when I rev the enging to about 3k and let off the power as the enging revs are dropping there is a whine/moan seems to be coming from the exhaust manifold or at least the back part of the engine does anybody else notice this or what????

Most likely the PCV valve hose is bad. There is a recall to fix it, but all that is needed is a 4 inch piece of 3/8 inch fuel line hose.

To put it in very basic terms, the hose has become softened by the hot oily mist being drawn through it because the wrong type of rubber was used to make it. You now essentially have an underhood whoopie cushion.

I've had this problem too... Try to make someone rev your car, while you look at that small hose... it's right under the MINI sign on the cylinders head.

If it collapses under throttle, then you need a new one... It's not a hard job to do, but if you're still under warranty, get it to your dealer...

It took like 30 minutes to change mine, and they did it in the parking lot...lol

This one is an easy fix. Just dont take your foot off of the gas. .
