I got my notice in the mail the other day. I replaced the water pump myself. I need to go through my receipts to find the invoice for purchasing the replacement. Now can I add on the price of the water tube and coolant that I had to purchase? I'm not going to get paid for my labor so they're getting off cheap!!
So I've submitted my claim for the timing chain and waiting for payment for that. What else? Oh yes, when am I getting the notice about the crappy thermostat that I've replaced twice?

Do we need to wait for a failure before replacement? Or can we proactively get the water pump replaced now?
Read the website, but if it was spelled out clearly there, I missed it.
Just purchased a 2012 MCS with a build date of 8/19/2011 so seems like my car would be in this class.
EDIT: OK, found the section that covers this, and it appears the vehicle has to fail and one cannot be proactive about it. See below:
Replacement of Failed Water Pumps After the Effective Date of the Settlement
MINI will cover 100% of the costs to replace a failed Water Pump on a Class Vehicle if the Water Pump fails during the Settlement Warranty Period. This repair will be covered if (1) the Water Pump failed in the ordinary course of driving, (2) there is no evidence of abuse, misuse, or accident, and (3) the vehicle is presented to an authorized MINI dealer in the United States or Puerto Rico during the Settlement Warranty Period for repair. Water Pump Repairs performed by third party repair facilities after the Effective Date will not be paid or otherwise covered by MINI under this Settlement. A Claim Form is not required to receive this benefit. If you meet the qualifications set forth herein, simply take your vehicle to an authorized MINI dealership for the repair.

So this settlement doesn't do anyone any good for future water pump failures if it hasn't already happened, one cannot seek reimbursement unless the work was done by Mini Service, and if your water pump fails after December 29, 2016 you're out of luck.
It seems to me that Mini should honor any future water pump failures regardless of date, that seems arbitrary if there's an inherent problem with the water pump. Technically, it wouldn't have to be a recall but the cut off dates are lame.
Just had my thermostat replaced by indie mechanic for $370, had to wait 5 days to get part as all dealers were sold out in my area. That should tell you something about the thermostat problem. My mechanic told me there was an extra adapter Mini is now requiring for all new thermostats, he said the part came with a two year warranty but if the thermostat had a problem I would have to take it to Mini to honor the warranty. If my newly installed thermostat had a problem and I brought my car to them, I have this funny feeling they'd not honor the warranty because they didn't install it.

With any residue on the pump, even if not dripping on the floor, is enough to consider fail. Kind of hard to see if not under and looking in the right spot.
