Car stalling when slowing down / going around corners
I have a 2004 Cooper, manual transmission. For the past few months, i've been noticing a problem with the car. It will only happen if you are going around a corner or stopping. The car will start to stall, the check engine light will flash for a second, and then go back to idle speed. It has stalled completely a few times.
Whats weird is that the car is in neutral or i'll be in gear with the foot on the clutch (all the way) and brake to slow it down.
What could it be? I'm gonna talk with the dealer tomorrow.
Just to add:
-the A/C isn't on
-the gas tank is full
-does it when its hot or cold

Just wondering about something similar myself. I have a 2002 MCS and I've come very close to stalling several times. I have been fortunate that each time it was about to stall, I was able to get moving again and therefore avoid stalling, but it worries me. I am wondering if it has anything to do with either sitting on hills waiting to turn (left) and/or running the AC at the time (while it's hot and very muggy).
This seems to be a new problem. I just had the car in for a check up at 25K last week. I had asked them to check out an intermittent "running rough" problem, which they couldn't duplicate. The problem was idle variation (subtle enough you can't seem them on the tach) while at traffic lights (usually running AC) and subtle sags in acceleration when in low gears (usually going up grades with AC on, but not always). I've had the true Yo-Yo and this was more subtle, though similar.
When I had the car in for it's 25K checkup, I asked them to look into the problem -- to no avail. When I got the car back, the "threatening stall" problem started. It makes me nervous that I'll stall trying to turn left going across busy divided roads and get hit. I don't know if they're related... but I hate stalling stick shifts!
Any ideas?

Reason: Poor grammar!
