2004 MCS JCW Engine Misfiring

Need some help from the experts.

This week my 2004 MCS JCW is not behaving. Was running down the road when the DSC light lit up and then the Check Engine light lit up. Engine started running rough. I limped home. The OBD codes shown are P0201 (injector circuit malfunction) and P0301 (engine misfire). What simple stuff should I check for? Could the DSC be causing this?

Check the connections to injector #1. Check resistance across the terminals of injector #1 and compare it to the other injectors. If it's significantly different, it probably faulty.

Thanks. I will do that and see where I come out.
The problem is intermittent so its probably electrical. I ran the Mini last night through a 10 mile loop mix of driving and no lights, ran fine. Could a dirty injector cause the open circuit?

You are running 91+ octane right...
Running lower can make the valves run hot.....this softens them...causes them to wear very quickly once it has happened...called a burnt valve...fix is a valve/head job...
...yes, these motors REQUIRE high octane...not "recommend, but required...next, if you are running good fuel...
Check the plug wires...the plug where the coil plugs into the coil tends to corrode lots...polish it up..add.some dielectric grease ...maybe a bottle of injector cleaner...if it continues...and still happens. Do a compression check...then if bad, a leak down test,...then if ok....new sparkplugs unless they are recent.

Just saw the injector circurt malfunction...
Yeah...look at the injector and wiring to that injector as stated...
Might be chafing/cut, or failing injector....

And no...
The DSC is not a cause...
If many issues will cause the DSC to turn off...
Simply put the computer cannot count on the engines output, so the system is disabled....
Same thing happens with many issues, bad t-map will do it, as will a bad wheel speed sensor....desc needs all inputs/outputs working well, or it defaults to off...

Thanks for the support.

Today it acted up after about 10 minutes of driving around, when I took a hard left hand turn. Limped it home and let it sit for an hour. Started it up got down my drive way and it acted up again, turn around, get back to the drive way. Shut down, start back up was still acting up. Shut down again, start back up and I get through the rough patch and it's smooth. So I take it a couple of miles down to the gas station to fill it up from 1/2 tank with 93 octane (which it always gets) and with a bottle of Seafoam and drive home -- no problem.

Pulled the IC off and measured the resistance of the injectors. All 4 are showing approximately 15 ohms. Connections look clean. Don't see any chafing of the wires.

Could a dirty injector cause the P0201 fault?

Just an update. Subsequent to the fill-up with SeaFoam added and checking the resistance of the injectors, I drove for about 45 miles in 4 different trips ranging from about 22 miles to 4 miles with the OBD II reader running. No problems so far.

Update: 200+ miles later, no further problem. Engine seems to run better now that a tank full of gas with SeaFoam has been run through it.

Yep, I would bet something gunned up the injector. Injectors have little filters in them , that can get plugged like any filter. Before I upgraded my injectors I use to use www.mrinjector.us to restore them.
