Mini coolant

Recently bought my first Mini, 2007 base. I have put 150 miles on it and it now needs a water pump at 53k miles. The coolant that is leaking out is green. From what I have read Mini coolant should be blue? Does it matter if I add green back in after the water pump install or should I try to drain all out and put in Mini coolant?

Correct the factory coolant is G48 spec (Blue). Its a BMW coolant, also used by many other brands.

If you have green in there, as long as all the old stuff was flushed out, green generic coolant will be ok.

Yes the MINI factory coolant is a blue color. Using the Green is fine and won't hurt anything. The problem will come in if you use Dex cool with regular coolant as it turns to jello.

So how do you determine what is in it now? Is Dex-cool green?
