Any one else have this? My Mini defintely makes a high pitched whine on the interstate. I found out that it's the recirculation vent. I don't know how/why but, when I push the button off it completely stops (until I turn it back on). Anyone else have this?

I have had this happen in my car. It was extremely annoying and took me a little bit to figure out what was causing the noise. The first time it occurred I turned off the recycled air and then turned it back on quickly and the noise would reappear. I then turned it off for 20 minutes and it didn't start up again.

"There is a fix for the whistling problem.
A modification to the fresh air / recirculated air flap in the heater boxfor all cars from October 2002 production.
Have your dealer reference Service Information Bulletin # 64 01 04."

This according to a service employee of a MINI dealership.

Aoine, guess what... It will most likely come back.

tontobird, thanks for the info. I haven't called the dealer about it yet but, at least I have something to call with... Of course my MCS was a recent build I have only had it about a month.
