R59 Roadster Top Wear Marks

I brought my 2012 roadster in for first service ( 1 year ). I told the service rep about 2 small wear marks on the top. They are from wearing against the rubber rain molding when the top is down. The 2 marks are behind each seat, right at the end of the hard section that is exposed when top is down. They are about 3/4" long and 1/18" wide. She seemed quite concerned and said she contacted corporate and was waiting for an answer. Apparently, there is an adjustment for the ribs that hold it in place so that it can't rub when the top is down. We'll see how that works. I will definitely keep an eye on it so it doesn't leak after warranty.

By the way, after my first service at MINI of Monmouth - I am still more than happy to work with them. Sales staff - super nice and professional and service staff - just as nice and professional.

Thanks for bring this to our attention. I'll be watching my top closely in the first few months after delivery. Keep us posted on the progress.

I have a 2013 delivered in Sept of last year. My top touches the rubber gasket in both of those areas but I don't have any noticeable wear yet. Thanks for the heads up - will keep an eye on it as well!

I need to check this but in two weeks, the top has been up twice. Once cause it was raining and once when we parked it in a public lot. My Open Top Meter says the car has been driven for 30 hours and the top has been down for 25 hours. (we have been out driving a lot in this car).

Almost made it home tonight before I hit some rain. Kept it above 30mph and made it to the garage without getting wet...with the top down.

If you view the other thread on this problem you will see Mini replaced the top on my 2012 Roadster S without hesitation.
