Bad cat?

So, I think that my cat is going out. When I start the car after it's been sitting for a while, there is a rattling coming from under the car. It sounds like a heatshield rattling. But after the car warms up it goes away. Today it definitely robbed some of the power from the car and when I press the gas the car bucks really wild for the first 5 minutes. I haven't thrown a CEL yet, but I'm afraid that it's coming. Does this sound familiar to any of you??

Also, what is the price going to be for getting this fixed? Would it be better to just spend a bit more money and get a turboback??

Thanks for the help!!

can't comment on the problem but cost wise it should be covered under warranty if you have less than 50K miles.

Wouldn't a CAT be covered under an Emission's Warranty 7yrs./miles (?), this is Federally Mandated, although you would have to be certain that it is the CAT 1st.

This may help...

I doubt it. If your cat was going you would get a code, or if the cat failed catastrophically it could plug up and you would have power loss ALL the time. Your downpipe would also be extremely hot and melt that hood scoop even faster than it does already

doubtful it's the CAT

if the CAT is going south you will get a distinct sulfuric smell. oh and yes the CAt is covered under the federally-mandated extended emissions warranty.

Turned out it was the timing chain tensioner. Also was covered under warranty though I swear mine was already done with.
