Just replaced thermostat / housing - Rough idle?

Howdy folks, had to replace my thermostat. Haven't dug into the R53 since I owned it so this is all new to me.

Pulled the airbox, ecu, intercooler and thermostat - replaced the thermostat, airbox, ecu and intercooler. Easy right? Well - the coolant leak is fixed, but he car is idling higher than normal and the car is 'lunging'. My gut tells me that I either swapped something on the MAF or something on the air intake side.

Any one want to take a guess? Throwing an SES code. Will run it tomorrow and figure it out.

Does the exhaust sound little different too ?

1) Make sure the couplers and clamps for the intercooler are on properly......sounds like you have a vac leak via the IC.

2) Double check the ECU cables you removed and make sure they are pressed and locked in properly.

Thanks - yes, the exhaust did sound strange. I will check that first.

Really appreciate the help.

np. The rubber couplers esp aftermarket ones are designed to be on there really snug so they have a tendency not to slide on properly on the undersides where you can't see. When this happens the vac leak gives you deeper exhaust note sorta like a MINI sherman tank, and you experience power loss/lag....
