Lock malfunction?

So the other day, I noticed my passenger door was locked even though I pressed lock. Pressed it again, and passenger still stayed unlocked but drivers side locked. I had to get to work so I just opened the door, manually pressed the lock thing down and left.

Came back to my car, unlocked my door and everything seemed to work. Trunk and driver side opened, but I forgot to check the passenger. Then I got home and noticed nothing worked. The button on my key, the toggle inside the car, nothing would work. Couldn't open my trunk, which kinda sucked..

Checked the fuse, and it was blown. Got a new one and now the passenger side doesn't work at all. Drivers side can unlock from the key and center console, but not lock. Only way to lock the drivers side is to push down, or use the key. Trunk will not stay locked no matter what.

Is there a simple fix to this?

Reason I ask is, one of the many, MANY, problems I've had with my car was the window not working. Searched the forums and found a fix that consisted of pressing the toggle switch and banging on the door a few times (some variation of that) and voila.

Since it seems all of the items that are connected to the toggle are having problems....I would reach behind it and make sure the plug is on tight.

I have had a problem this past week with the trunk becoming unlocked spontaneously. This morning I would close the think, walk towards the driver's door, only to hear the thing unlock again. This happened about 4 times until I put the keyfob into the recharging slot, then closed the trunk. The stupid battery fob was going dead and this is how it was letting me know. You might want to try charging your fob, or changing the fob you use and see if that fixes it.

Will most likely call the dealer sometime this week to get my MINI checked, but was curious if you guys had any problems similar to this?

I'm still having the same problems, but just the other day, it had gotten a bit worse. My windshield wipers go on without me toggling them. Passenger airbag light comes on. Radio turns on and off... Any ideas?

When I had my R53 and this happened, the salt from the road got into the wiring causing, doors, trunk, windows and sunroof to open (not all together but one of those)

Dealer quoted $2000 to fix my car. Not sure of the exact words but I was told that they said they have to replace both passenger and driver locking mechanism. They also found a problem in the front suspension which has to be fixed.

I'm not much of a car guy, but I do drive this car to school and work daily. I usually give it off to my brother or Dad if there's a problem so I don't know exactly what the problem is.

All I know is, the car is a stock 2003 Mini Cooper. It's about to hit 100k and I've spent $6000+ to keep it running in the last 2 years.

I'm running in to the same problem with my R53 now. I was at the ski hill and went to lock my car and heard the locks activate and walked away. Come back to my car and notice my drivers side door is unlocked, "IMPOSSIBLE I hit that lock button like 3 times to lock my car" i tinkered with it for a couple minutes. lock/unlock lock/unlock till it stopped locking all my doors all together. Still couldn't get that drivers side to lock. Then started the car and tried again, no luck. I was able to manually lock it, so i left it and went back to my business of hitting the slopes. After boarding i get all my gear packed away and leave the hill. I try hitting the lock button in the car for kicks and all my doors lock. I get to the hotel and grab my gear, go to lock the car with my remote and everything locks. Go out on a beer run, get to the store and go to lock the car with my remote and my drivers side door fails again. It's still doing it 3 days after the first sign of this issue. I've seen people say that the solenoid goes bad and has to be replaced, so I tried to see if i could find the part but had no luck. Does anyone know where I can get my hand on a new solenoid for the drivers side door lock of an R53?

The only good mini is a mini that's still under warranty... this has been the lesson I learned over the past year of owning this car.
