Misfires High Pressure Fuel Pump

Got a Bavarian Technic USB-to-ODBII scanner, tried it out, got an incomprehensible 2773 code that a search of minintechinfo.com showed under “test plan for BMW Service (developmental status)” as the dreaded “combustion misfires Cylinder 1: bad plug, harness, coil, injector”. In non-BMW talk, it is P0301, sometimes generates a CEL. Visited the mini dealer in Pleasanton, CA., and got a new high pressure fuel pump (13.51.7.588.879=$895.78). In 1 3/4 hours, I was headed home. My partner says, “it (‘08 MCS H/B, 15K) is back to normal’. She’s welcome, I’ll stick to my turbo-diesel.
