Key Fob/Dead Car

Twice my MINI has refused to recognize my key fob. First time I stalled the car at a light for 30 seconds the car was dead no dash lights, would not start. Second time on a club run, I cut the car off at a overlook, car would not recognize the fob for ten minutes. Dealer is no help, no stored error codes, could not replicate problem. Also have a problem where the car sounds like a diesel when cold and wet, same response from the dealer. They should just play you a tape recording when you walk into the service area, it would save time.
