SES Light - Coolant/Battery issue?

Hi All,

I have a 2007 MC Convertible - and haven't had any issues up until now!

The other day, my Service Engine Soon light came on - solid not blinking. The car sounded and ran fine, nothing else seemed off-kilter. Checked under the hood, antifreeze was below the MIN line. Filled that per the manual's instructions and with MINI coolant. Then the car wouldn't turn over at all - clicking, then none. Had to get a jump to get started this morning, and then she was okay. However, the SES light is still on. I'm hoping I'll be able to get an appt to get it into the dealer this weekend, but for the time being --- just wanted to see if anyone has had a similar issue, or any thoughts on what it may be. Your thoughts/comments are welcomed.

Thanks!

If you do need a new battery here is a list of non OEM batteries that can save you $$$$. Good luck.

The possibilities are endless...

the light tells you "something is wrong" but you have to get the codes to know what the car thinks is causing problems. Really, everyone who has a modern car should have a code scanner. Usually, you can borrow one from local autoparts stores. Call around to see if they have one!

I'm running a Optima 34R battery in my 02 MCS. Fits good and I like Optima batteries. But like buzzsaw says, there are lots that will fit.

If you're still under warranty, give the dealer a shot first. If you do need a battery and it's not covered by warranty, get one any place but the dealer! If you like the Optimas you can get the 34R for a good deal here.

Matt
