rear view mirror help

Hey guys, recently my son pulled down on my rear view mirror and now it's just hanging by the wire...
I've tried popping it back in and using adhesives but nothing seems to work.
Any of you guys know how to lock it back in place??

It's a 2007 mini cooper.

it "turns" into place. meaning you will have to press the mirror againts the base at an angle and slowly rotated into place.

i usually start the mirror - point towards the drivers side of the cabin and rotate clockwise if you were looking up at the base.

does that make any sense???
