Front brakes gone in the first 19 000 km

Does this seem be normal? Or did i get defective pads from the factory. it is a tip tronic 2007 cooper s. bought new in feb 2008. i was shocked they said they were gone already? replaced at cost of 450.

what kind of driving do you do? i just bought my MCS used with 29K miles on it and the front brakes had to be replaced immediately (don't know what kind of driving the previous owner did).

but i do mostly highway driving to work and back. my 2000 Honda civic had 120K on it when i traded it in, no brakes were ever changed and no problems at all. i currently own a 2003 Honda accord (along with the MCS) with 145K miles on it. just had the brakes done (pads were fine, maybe half gone, the rotors were causing a wobble while braking).

so, really depends on the kind of driving you do. also, notice all that brake dust the mini makes? i think BMW uses softer compound for brake pads that don't last as long (but probably provide more braking power).

That's not out of line...like the previous poster mentioned...it depends on how the car is driven...heavy traffic daily and so on. Probably would do the work myself at that price...was this at the dealer?

I had Molly's replaced last Friday, 800 miles still on the OBC, but Dealer had no problem replacing them. She's got about 20.500+ miles on her now.

Why did you have to pay for brakes on an '07? Outside of the US?
