Car never starts the first time around... Why could it be?

My car has been doing something strange. It never starts the first time around. It always starts on the second try. I wonder if anyone has noticed this with their own vehicles.

Should I press the "Start" button for a bit longer? This would be strange, since I had never noticed this issue before.

Sounds very much like the "Mini Flu". Been sorta pandemic with 02-06 models though.....so far been a mystery but we think it has something to do with the outside ambient temps and air fuel mix, and the new methanol blends. Mine happens every April and usually stops by Oct 1st when they start selling conditioned fuel in the stations.

Changing spark plugs, gas stations, fuel filter doesn't help either....

My 2009 MCS has around 4,800 miles (delivered last September 30) and has never required more than a tap on the start button to start the first time. I don't think holding the start button controls how long the starter motor runs.

You say you have a 2010 Mini...I didn't know any had been received yet?

I don't live in the States; I got mine 1 1/2 months ago or so.

There's a thread around where I took a pic of part of my VIN, in order to prove it

BTW, it's identical to a 2009. I can't see any changes anywhere.

Oh, and like magic - my car now starts anytime. Life is surely interesting when you own a MINI. Heh.
