2nd gear syncro warranty question

So I'm pretty sure my syncro in 2nd gear is going. When shifting into it you must make sure it's a good push into the gear and fully in. Not like the other gears where you can kind of throw it in all lazy like. If you don't make sure it's all the way in it grinds like nuts till you reset it. It happens to me every once in a while. However when I let others drive the car they're constantly doing it. This way I know it isn't me and the car has something wrong with it.

I had syncro problems on my vette's that people always said they may not warranty the fix. Because I was close with my dealer they always did.

What I'd like to know is will this be an obvious warranty fix or will they possibly try and charge me as being "user abuse" or something nuts like that?

If they may charge I'll just say F it and let it be. However since I'm at 29,000 miles I'd like to get it fixed for free while I still can if possible.

Thanks!
-Gene

I think you are "borrowing" trouble. The vehicle is under warranty and the part involved is a covered part. It is much to the advantage of the dealer to do the warranty rather than look for a reason to reject the warranty, especially if it is the original owner and original dealer. The dealer is paid for the repair, it does not cost him a dime but rather makes money. The customer is happier and is more likely to return.

Too often we read on here about warranty rejections without knowing all the circumstances. I have seen people show up in the service aisle with highly modified dirty cars and auto cross numbers still on the windshield all the while claiming they did not abuse the car. A clean well kept presentation from a reasonable owner will seldom cause any problems on what is reasonably covered. Usually a conversation with the Service Manager or the General Manager of the dealership will cure any misunderstandings.

Same issue with me. My tranny was replaced. btw with 30k miles I'd maybe go an extra step and have them replace the clutch components if they are reasonably priced. They are not warnatee items but maybe you can just have the dealer install new parts at your cost without the labor charges.

Mine does the same thing and i have 46k+ miles and my warranty ends at 50k Do you think they will say its fine and wait till the warranty expires?

It started happening this week sometimes it grinds going into 2nd gear even when i make sure the clutch is pushed in all the way any thoughts of what is going bad? Not sure if the clutch is bad sense i bought it used. Yet again the person i bought it from was a bit old so im not sure if he pushed the car when he had it or if he knew how to shift correctly or ever grind ed the gears...

How long did it take the mini dealer to install the new tranny?
