Yeah, the windows were too clear so I tinted them and the rims were too small so I got 17"ers :-) '09 Clubman S and so far so good.

Passanger window dipper not working, but that is all and I will have owned her for a year in October. I guess I should get that fixed, but I keep forgetting about it, which shows how much trouble it is.

I bought my 09 on 6/20 so far

Battery failure
map light would not turn off ( module failure )
wiper failure ( bad wiper stalk )
cosmoline stained front fender wheel trim ( replaced )
high pitched whine that increases with RPM dealer claims is normal
left front wheel TPM failure

that all happened in the first month. Since then other than the whine driving me nuts nothing else has failed. But I only have 1100 miles on it so far.

Got him in October and no problems at all 12,000 miles later. I do have the whine at idle/low speed, but he's had that since the day we brought him home from the dealer. So far he's been a great car, is getting 44-45 mpg with mostly highway driving (not calculated by OBC) and is still a blast to drive.

The reason I posted was because I picked my 09 last week; and have about 800 miles on it. Ever since I got it, it has the high pitch noise (not the water pump sound, and changes pitch with RPM).

If your dealer said it's normal; I wonder what it is. Did they say it's with the alternator?

Red_Fred,

Same to you; did you take the car to dealer to have the whine sound checked out?

Other than that noise; my 09 is awesome. Still in the break-in period..

The early 09 cabrio's have a few cronic problems.
Door rubber won't stay in place
poor fitment of black wheel plastic trim
cosomline leaks everywhere (and it seems for ever)
All these previously discussed on Forum. Still worth the little bothersome problems.

I haven't taken it to the dealer about the noise yet. It really hasn't changed since day one and the car runs great. But I figure that I will say something when I take it in for it's first service, which I guess will be early this coming October.

09 Cooper with 1900 miles. Picked up May 1. At about 1K got the squealing water pump sound at idle. Sometimes very noticible, and sometimes not. From what I had read on this forum many who have got it repaired had the sound come back. Also most felt it shouldn't cause any damage. I'm gonna prob just have the dealer check it out when I bring it in next year for an oil change.

Other than that its been great.

I've had mine since June 2nd and I haven't had any issues with it. Well, I take that back... the dealer forgot to install the grippy discs to keep the rubber floormats from sliding around but that's been it. Mine has a little over 2100 miles. I love this car!

600 miles down:

Replaced fuel pump
Passenger air bag off light on inappropriately
Rattles in the middle

But I do miss it still. Hopefully they fix the problems soon.

Smart Glass (drivers side) doesn't drop down when opening the door and closing. Leaves a great gap between convertible top front and rear window, Cosmoline stain on left front wheel molding (tried Black Wow, and Prima Nero but stain still there), gaps in real wheel molding and black molding under bumper, had to put the door gaskets back in place twice since delivery. Goes to the dealer thursday. Cool the way the key downloads all the info to the service dept. New dealer so this should be interesting.

09 MCSa JCW delivered 11/5/08, other than a boot latch that needed adjusting and a minor rattle in the headliner above the toggles, all's well at 7500 miles. much better build quality than my 2005 S.

however, I have been reading about clutches burning up in less than 20K a lot here lately, due to factory misalignment or faulty components, and worse yet, dealers trying to pin blame on customers. caveat emptor.

I got my 2009 r56 on June 13th.

One week after bringing it home, I had one instance of "Cold Start Chatter". I live at the beach in SoCal, so it doesn't really get cold here.

On August 14th @ 4800 miles (or so) my car started to hesitate and made a single "pop-ing" sound after pulling away from a stop sign. The Nav screen read "Engine! Reduced Power". I had it flatbed-ed to the dealership and they told me today they are replacing the "High Pressure Fuel Pump". I have ONLY ever used Chevron Premium in this car, so I will be curious to find out what caused this.

I have my fingers crossed this isn't the beginning of a nightmare-ish term of ownership

Just an updated on my sound, which is the high pitch whistle which goes up or down depending on RPM load. The tech decided it too was the water pump and water pump pulley. He believed that it's misaligned; which is causing the high pitch sound.

Back from dealer. They say gaps between rear wheel moulding and rear bumper moulding ok because their all that way. (??????) New hood scoop, left front wheel moulding, on order. Smart Glass drop down fixed with reprograming and they said they couldn't duplicate door gaskets coming loose. guess the next time they come off I'll just leave them. All problems so far seem to be somewhat cosmetic.
