Problem with rear brake R & R
2004 MCS, original owner, 185K. I'm having a problem with the rear brake pad and rotor replacement. I have done this previously probably 3-5 times without issue, so I'm stumped. How exactly do you install the 'rear brake pad retaining spring?' I'm installing new pads, rotors, and the retaining spring. This time the spring rubbed on the rotor hub and the ends of the spring did not contact the pad carrier. In other words, its not accomplishing anything. Help!

Don't have any details to offer. Just that when I did brakes -- this on various cars over the years -- I would raise say both rear wheels off the ground and once the car was safely supported remove both wheels and expose the brake hardware.
Thus when I worked on one brake I'd have the other side to refer to if I had any questions on how to reassemble the brake hardware.
'course I was sure the brake hardware was correct as it was factory original or if I had done the brakes before to be sure I had the brake hardware installed correctly.
