Creaking sound when turning steering wheel

Hi, I am from Singapore and I just bought a MY08 R56 Mini One. Its been 4 mths now and I am still loving every second of it.

However, in recent mths, I have noticed a creaking sound just behind my steering wheel when I turn out of a lot. Its about a 3/4 turn and it happens when I park the car overnight. Recently, it is also happening even after parking for an hr. However, after travelling for a while, it goes away.

Anyone experience the same thing? Appreciate if you guys could share on how to rectify this.Thks!

Mine's an '07 MCS, it's doing the same thing recently, I'm about to take it in for maintenance on the brakes (I bought the extended maintenance agreement -- not the extended warranty -- which is good because I'm over 36K miles only 2 1/4 years in), and I'm going to ask about that when it's there. If I can remember, I"ll post back what they say.

Had that problem on my 2003. It was a bushing/bearing in or around the steering column. Replaced under warranty, just in time.

This hasn't happened to me on this car. But on my grandparents Ford Fiesta it turned out that the mats were rubbing against the steering pipe (i apologize in advance for my lack of knowledge on the correct terminology). I removed the mats and no more noise
