Hi Everyone,
Before 3 month ago the dealer changed my clutch because it was very stiff when I push it. Also it has strange sound (rururururu) only when I accelerate. After it was changed the clutch come better plus no sound. Now after 2K miles the sound come back again. The dealer told me that sound come from the flywheel need change. Can that be from the flywheel? moreover the sound come more and more while I am using it. I can take a video for it.
When the flywheel is replaced, the clutch kit (Pressure plate, discs and throw out bearing) must also be replaced.
If they replaced your clutch and left the original flywheel they did it wrong. Demand to have the clutch kit and flywheel replaced again.
Not neccessarily...How bout that video clip of the noise and explain what you are doing to make it happen.

Sounds like the well known, classic "chewbacca" sound we all know and love. Had my '06MCS clutch/flywheel replaced at 12,000 miles. Sound began at 3,000 miles and car now has 25,000 miles on it.
Yeah... that's a similar sound I had a while back. Just be careful, if you happen to notice it often when starting from a standstill, you could have a defective throw-out bearing, like in the case I had, and you want to get that fixed ASAP. My throw-out bearing failed and started to chew into the input shaft for my transmission. End result, the small issue I thought I had set me back a replacement transmission, as I found out the hard way that MINI does not sell transmission components separately.

That's mean, I have to change the flywheel with clutch as soon as possible?
Mine is doing the same thing. I'm glad to were able to shoot a video of it. Now I don't have to A friend of mine told me his Mustang's clutch was making the same sound right before it crapped out, and he ended up replacing the clutch/flywheel... Let us know when you replace the flywheel, and what that does for you

That depends on how often you are hearing the problem. If it's only something you notice a couple times when you move your car after it has sat for a while, it's probably safe to hold off on a replacement. On the otherhand, if you notice it occurring after your car has ran for a while, then I'd recommend changing it much sooner.
I've had that sound for more than a year now. But for me it only makes that noise after it had rained or when there's a lot of moisture outside. My clutch pedal is also very rigid when depressed. Instead of a smooth glide when depressed, it has a rigid and rubbery feel to it. Either way, I have a aftermarket clutch and flywheel getting ready to be installed.

Tell us the difference after you install it. I see about 5 persons have the same problem
Yup, me too. Had a new rebuilt 6 speed transmission put in a few thousand miles ago, with a new clutch kit and t/o bearing. Didn't replace the fly wheel as it looked good. The noise occurs when the car has sat for a few days, and stops after being driven a few miles.

Thanks for the video. I tried to tell my mechanic about the "Chewbaca" sound, and all I got was a laugh. Of course, my car wouldn't make the noise when I talked to him. I made a CD of your u-tube video and left it on his desk later in the day. Now I don't feel so silly.

I am thinking "flywheel", as this is the only component that wasn't changed out. The car has to sit for a few days, to make any noise. This has me baffled.

Man that is really loud in the video. My car made the chebaca noise a while ago but it was never that loud and really only when conditions were right (damp and cold)... The clutch is however stiff and gritty at the end of travel in hot weather. Its really smooth in 70 degree or cooler weather.
