MINI Car Cover Scratches?

I purchased an exterior JCW MINI car cover from the dealer shortly after purchasing my car. I don't have a garage and wanted to protect it as much as possible. Now, it seems the car cover may be causing some scratches on the boot bar over the license plate. It is the only place I have noticed this. The cover has been on 98% of the time over the past two months. We get some high winds, enough to nearly blow the cover off the car completely, if not for the way the cover is fitted over the side mirrors. Has anyone else experienced this? I have tried to polish this scratches out, but not with polishing compound. I guess that is next.

Polishing compound???

Take a few pics and head over to the detailing forum first. You'll (and your Mini) will be glad you did.

I tried polishing compound today, not help. I can't prove it was the car cover. But will try a complaint at the dealership, to see if they can repair the damage. Next option, replace the part.

I had a Weatherguard C/C for my R53 and it would regularly scratch the paint on the roof and rear quarter panels. I just do without now (plus I have not tried to see if it'll fit my R56)

Fine scratches are inevitable with covers. No matter how clean the car and cover is, dust makes it way between. Doesn't matter if the cover is super soft inside or not. Super soft material with dust is abrasive. My 911 is always covered (11 years now). It has many fine scratches which are only visible in certain light/angles. It's a trade off.

I have used covers for the past 5 years. IMO, carnauba waxes protect from scratches better than sealants.
