moisture in headlight

well something new always comes along to bite me in the rear. i have an eyesore, i have moisture in my headlight! i don't know how it got there, but it has been there for a week now and it sucks! i had this before on my TT. i had to put it in an oven to loosen the sealant just to seperate the lens from the housing and it worked. does anyone know how to remove ithe moisture? do i have to do the same thing as my TT? is it covered under warranty? thanks for your help.

Obviously one of the lamp gaskets is leaking air/ moisture into the housing. Check those out and have them replaced. To dry it out you would need to fix the gasket first and then use a hair dryer on low heat/volume to get rid of the moisture through the lamp openings. I would not put it in an oven.

Thankfully it hasn't happened on my MINI. However, it recently happened to both headlights on the VW Passat of a friend of mine, and to one of the fog lights on another friend's Mitsubishi Montero Sport. Quite the eye sore indeed... I'd call up the dealer.

Best of luck.

on my TT, the oven was for to remove the sealant from the housing not to dry it. but what i was asking was how to get inside the housing to dry it with a towel or soft rag. is the housing sealed to the lens?

Why not make the dealer replace it?

P.S. Are you "DE" as in Deutschland, or as in Delaware?

I have the same issue with the passenger headlight having moisture, i've had it in twice and the US dealership can't resolve the problem, they must duplicate it, I'm sensing that they spray a little bit of water on the light and thats it. I can wash the car and not have a problem, i think it is a matter of the air, and a prolong period of time that accumulates water into the housing. The MINI is still under warranty but this has been a headache to get replaced. It's back at the dealership again with me wanting it replaced.

Does having to stay involve big, ugly MP's and the UCMJ? (Why else would an American be in K-town?)
