Thanks for posting that as well. I've been having the sunroof issue on my 2010 for the first time this summer, and was considering going in to see if it was covered.
This should definitely help, as it's still within the warranty period, but knowing how service tends to work, the document should be my shield
could be it due to increased pressue inside (inside has hotter air than outside)?
Let's hear it.
I don't think it's the pressure, because I always ride with the windows down and the top still won't tilt. I live in Houston and it's been at least 100 degrees the past 5 days, when it's hot it just doesn't work, I've recently just used my hands with the switch at the same time. I also have troubles closing it sometimes when it's hot out. It will close then by itself, tilt back open. I have to slide it all the way open then close it for it stay shut. My poor cooper, all that Texas sun and it has a black roof =\
Hey, I am back. So I now have a 2010 MCS that I got in december. I was told my everybody that the sunroof has been fixed. I was lied too. In the last 3 months, I have brought my car to the dealership 5 times for them to fix it. And they have guaranteed it every time I have got it back. So needless to say, that I officially dislike Mini Crowfoot in Calgary, Alberta.
Not to mention that I had to wait over a month for my 1st service.
Hopefully lucky for me, I have moved to Victoria, BC and I will be finding out how this dealership treats me. I sure hope it's not worse than Mini Crowfoot.
I will repost once I get my car back and I would like to see what Mini Victoria has to say about the sunroof issue.
Scott.

Scott, don't hold out much hope for the Victoria Dealership, as I have had my 2008 in 5 times now for the sunroof issue.. only fails when it's hot out..they were supposed to replace it on the last visit as I left the car for a week with them. When I returned and picked it up, they had adjusted, lubed and replaced a seal.. now so far so good, but time will tell.

I took it to the dealer here in Las Vegas and on the first visit (2 weeks ago), they cleaned out the sunroof seal b/c they said there was a lot of dust and "gunk" in it. Well the day after they repaired it, it stuck again. So yesterday I brought it back in (to replace some molding coming off the back door of my Clubman) and to take another harder look at the sunroof. I let them have it overnight so they could replace the motor for the sunroof. I go and pick it up, get handed the keys, and try to open the sunroof, and it sticks.
The technician comes out and informs me that my car had already had the entire sunroof frame and track replaced a year or so back (I am second owner). So now I am kind of concerned as a lot of work has been done on this damn roof and it's still sticking. The technician had the same thoughts.....
Anyway he takes it back in and uses this super lube on the track and now everything seems to be working ok. I will have to let it sit out in the sun again to really give it another shot, but for now all is well.
On a side note, I got my computer system updated. It was 3 years old and got updated to the newest version. (March 2011). Somewhere during the update though, something went wrong b/c now I don't have Bluetooth connectivity on my system, no handsfree control ("Say a command") on my steering wheel, and no access to my music via my USB port.... So it's heading back in next week for a reflash i guess.
As MINI inidicated in their SIM, the higher friction activates the anti-trap mechanism which causes the roof to close back.
You can force a full-force open or close of the sunroof by pressing the close/open button 2 times (till the 1st stop NOT the auto close-open position). This tells the computer to do a full-force movement irrespective of the anti-trap mechanism.
Reading through the thread, I got the impression, that if the rails are moved further apart, then the problem may be solved. But that's just an idea:P
Update:
Adjusting and re-initializing the roof is a really simple process and can be done by anyone... Just did mine So give it a go before taking the car to the dealer!!
