1. the 'carpet' in the wheel well is coming loose
2. the rubber insert in the cup holder is coming loose
3. I've had the car since 6/23 and it's still leaking that fluid from under the hood
Are these things I should be asking the dealer to fix, or is it too petty?

Depends on your feelings, you paid for the new Mini. If it was happening to my Mini, I would make the 20 minute drive back to have them resolved.

well that is kind how I feel, it's brand new, wasn't cheap, and these things should be fixed. I guess I could get some super glue and fix it myself.. but that's not the point
Unfortunately my dealer is 2 hrs away and I probably won't need my first service until February.
I guess I'll start a list for the service dept when I go in, get it all done at once. I'm just concerned they'll come up with some crap that I should have come in sooner.. that is if the problems gets worse.

I think the little rubber inserts in the cup holder just lay in there and are meant to come out... at least they are in the 05 and 06 models I have. I like them that way because I can remove them, clean them, and put them back in.
The other issues you have, yeah, I would make the dealership fix them but if you can tolerate them a bit, wait until your scheduled service since the dealership is so far.
On anther note, Tess, I remember about six months ago you were asking about recommendations for aesthetic mods on your MINI. So... what did you decide to do... anything ?

Make a call to the SM and have him make a note of it on your file, then when you do make a trip in there will be a record of it.

I agree--document the problems and go on motoring.
