Oil on top of trubo

Oil on top of trubo
I have a 2008 Mini Cooper S. I notice a little oil on the top of the turbo. Under hard driving especially hard corning I smell burned oil.
Are there brass crush washers or o-rings where the hard line enters the turbo? Is there anything special I need to know about disconnecting the oil line to the turbo and replacing it or the seal?
Any help is appreciated as I need to save a trip to the dealer right now.

You need #8 ( four crush rings ) and get #6 below. The lines often become plugged up. I would also replace both banjo bolts as well # 7 as they can develope issues over time, depending on mileage.
# 6 = oil pipe - # 11657534454 = $ 65.00.
# 7 = banjo bolts x2 - # 07119905176 = $ 4.20 ea.
# 8 = crush washers x 4 - #07119963151 = $ .55 ea.
If you don't have #20, and add on part by the dealer - heat shield - grab up one of those too.
#20 = heat shield attachment # 11657603484 = $29.00
All these parts are critical to directing oil needed to the turbo's bearings.

Do a search on the forum. There is a long thread on replacing the oil feed line for the turbo including diy instructions if you don't have a Bentley manual. Might want to look at the Detroit Tuned aftermarket kit as they eliminate the rubber o-rings that fail. They also sell an OEM kit as do other vendors.

They sell both the MINI OEM kit and their own kit that uses different compression fittings and a flexible, braided line.

Here's the thread you need. Read the entire thread. The stock oil feed line may not have rubber "O-rings", but they're rubber seals of some kind...and they fail...a lot, due to heat damage from the turbo. A really poor design. Replace with the Detroit Tuned kit for a long-term fix.

Thank you for your help
Thank you everyone who responded. I started by calling MINI this last Monday to see if there was any help with this issue and I was told the answer is no. The guys are always nice to me and this exchange was no different. I will be ordering the Detroit Tuned kit along with a few additional items for while I am in there. I hope to rearrange my schedule to have time to do this project in the next week. Would photos of any of this work be helpful on this site? If so where would I post them?

Well, you can never have too many photos. A poster on the thread I referenced above has has already supplied a great many photos of this project. I would suggest that you review his photos and then add any you think might still be needed. I would also suggest posting them to that thread. Good luck and have fun.
