Coming up this Labor Day weekend is the 4th Annual Hill Country Rendezvous in Fredericksburg, TX. Last year I made it out to the Sunday Poker Run and had a great time driving the backroads in my Mini.
Should be tremendous fun.

Many members of the Houston and Dallas Clubs are planning to be there. You might want to check out the metroplexmini.org site for more details. Several threads there.
Humbeaux and I will be there with bells on.

Randy, I'll see you there! I'll be in the Indi Blue & White MCS:
We can talk about MINIs, Elises (notice the reflection in the side of the MINI), Texas music, and what good backroads to drive. I'm looking forward to meeting you.

Thanks for the link to the photos of the event. The group I was traveling with, including my wife, were seriously into "non-participation" so I missed most of the Rendezvous. Trust me, that won't happen again. That first photo of the Cave Creek school is about a mile and a half from our property near Fredericksburg.
I'll bet there's a good story behind the photo of the nail (?) in the tire. It's a good thing you had run-flats.

That's a shame, the rides were great and the non-participation did not go unnoticed, it's sad to say. After reading the blog today on the club networks, I'm even considering not renewing my club membership next year, as I don't want to be judged by association.

A lot of us had a bad experience last year. The Saturday events (last year)were terrible and topped off with an event we refer to as the "Follow me slowly" drive. As a result a lot of us were gun shy of this year's Saturday event and only registered for Sunday. I know the organizer was disappointed that the attendance was down as was registration for the full two days of the event.
Those that did participate in the Saturday event said it was a lot better than last year, so I think a lot of us will register for the entire weekend in '07. All in all the weather was incredible for the entire weekend and we all had a great time. Who would have expected 70's and 80's on Labor Day weekend in Hill Country?!!!
