Jan/RMW tuning (in Fl)- who wants it???

UPDATED 2/27

DATE: 4/19 and 4/20 (if needed). dyno will stay open until late (9pm-ish), allowing ~10 cars in one day
LOCATION: Renn Haus in Sarasota

Hey all! I just spoke with Jan (RMW's guru) and he is interested in doing a tuning party in Florida. He does CUSTOM Dimsport tunes and has most impressive results. He frequently gets 20 whp or more out of a tune, while improving driveability as well (no flat spots , improved throttle response). This is by far the best tuning option available today!

The results speak for themselves:
http://www.northamericanmotoring.com...&highlight=jan
http://www.northamericanmotoring.com...&highlight=jan
http://www.northamericanmotoring.com...&highlight=jan
http://www.northamericanmotoring.com...&highlight=jan
http://www.northamericanmotoring.com...&highlight=jan

All that Jan needs to make the trip is the commitment of at least 10 people. I'll handle the logistics, including location. We're looking to find a location that's central and convenient, so the exact location won't be known we have enough people. That said, Jan does require that we have a Dynapack dyno for the session because he gets the best tunes using these. The best option will be Rennhouse in Sarasota.

Tuning will be $350 for the tune plus dyno costs ($1000 per day divided evenly amongst us).

So, who's interested?? Any feedback, assistance in planning is welcome. Thanks for the look!

DISCLAIMER: I have no financial incentive in this! I just want to get a tune on my car and will do what it takes to facilitate that .

I'd be interested, I'm located in Tampa. Don't know of any shops around to help out, but it is a pretty central area

There are two options near Tampa, tentatively...in Sarasota and in Tampa itself (see the post about which shop is where). You're added to the list . As more are added, we'll hammer out details about where, when.

Talk to Eddie at 1FastMINI, maybe he'll be interested in helping out. His shop is in Orlando and he should have an idea for a dyno to use. He could tech all the cars before they get on the dyno to avoid any headaches.

Gainesville could be another alternative...

Oh, and, I may be interested depending on when this goes down. The later the better in this case lol.

Jan really prefers to work on a Dynapack, and these are pretty rare. There are 3 in Fl, listed above. Maybe if Eddie can borrow one... (they are somewhat portable unlike other dynos). I'll contact him and see.

im intrested but I need to get a new 15% pulley, and RMW full exhaust. I was hoping to have the head as well before going with a tune but I dont see that in short term.

Ft Myers, FL
orlando is definitely central.

I'll add you to the list. In all likelihood, it will be at least March before we can get Jan down here, so you will have time to secure the mods that you want.

That said, I think that you might want to speak with Jan before buying the full exhaust. I'm pretty sure that he'd advise you to get the head before the exhaust, because the full benefit of the exhaust can only be had with the head. The head would give you the better bang for your buck. Call him up and see what he has to say .

I agree but I have a failed miltek cat with a o2 cheater to make me feel better at the moment lol. Im going to bust out with the ramen lifestyle for a lil so i can get (Head+full exhaust/headers +15%)

Sooooo hopefully at tune time i will be sitting with this...

- Alta intake
- 15%
- RMW header/Full Exhaust
- RMW Head
- Shrick cam
- What I believe to be JCW injectors (i peeked at them and them and they have a sky blue part)
- New Radiator/ New Supercharger

What you think thats worth with tune?
Hopefully Ill leave the engine alone for a bit after that and work on suspension since I have only (Old or New? has two adj holes) Alta swaybar
Oh lastly I really hope this is planned on a weekend. I would try and get the days off though.

It will be a weekend.

I am not sure what power you would get...just ask Jan (he's awesome). You would probably want the RMW cam, btw...not the Schrick. Again, you can talk to Jan about that...

New radiator?? What kind of supercharger??

Either way, I'll be very jealous of your car!

Stock SC and radiator. Dealer broke the radiator replacing the SC. I think that BMW dealer hates my car. But thats another story I cant be blamed for. I fear having to go into the tranny after this for a quaife and clutch/flywheel. Although I didnt need it on my focus yet I loved it.

Just to update everyone, the dyno can stay open late (like 9-ish), so we can likely get at least 10 cars tuned that day .

There is a Downtown Mini track day on Sunday, in Gainesville. A few of us may head there to cap off the weekend .

If we're only there one day, then the total cost to everyone will be $450.

PLEASE CONFIRM IF YOU CAN ATTEND ....

Right now there are 16 people who have expressed interest, but the only ones that I can see that have confirmed are listed as "CONFIRMED" in the first post. I need everyone to confirm. We can only do about 10 people in one day, so if we arrange for everyone to get a tune, we would need 2 days. This has the potential to increase costs, so I NEED TO KNOW BY Saturday, 2/9.
