South Bay Mini Service Dept. Experience

My MCS is a bit over a year old and hit 4700 miles on the odometer a couple of weeks ago. Time for the yearly dealer oil change, and to get a couple of things working on the car that hasn't worked since delivery.

For months, I've read the various threads here and on NAM regarding the So Cal dealers and the horror stories encountered with various Service Advisors and Techs. I had ZERO interest in returning my car to the dealer I purchased it from, as they their responsiveness faded once the ink dried on the sales contract.

I recently read where XYKO 53 from the SCMM.org board took his Mini to South Bay and mentioned that Stacey took good care of him. Good enough for me.

I was received at the dealership by Amanda, who started the ball rolling. Stacey returned to the counter and finished off the paperwork. I asked that Brian handle the service, which included a pesky shifting issue with the Steptronic in manual mode, and a voice activation feature that wouldn't activate. Stacey walked me to the rental area and in less than 5 minutes I was off in a loaner 2007 328i. Nice ride.

Stacey made it a point to check in with Brian and call me daily with updates on the status of my repair. What should have been a simple repair / update turned into quite the ordeal for Brian, who quickly and methodically worked each issue that surfaced. When I picked up the car, everything that could have been done (one part is on national backorder) was done, and done 100 % correctly.

The quality of service and level of professionalism that I received from Amanda, Stacey and Brian far exceeded my expectations.

Not only will I be using South Bay Mini for my service work, Amanda will get the deal on my next purchase as well.

Great job!

Thats good to hear!

I got mine from South Bay so I'll definitely go there (even though its a ways off) for any service appointments

I didn't know they gave out loaners when you drop your mini off

O_o

Did you have to call them to set up an appointment or did you just show up and talk to them?

You may be farther away from them that I am, but I'll bet it's close. I'm coming from Fontana, about 75 miles away, one way.

Well worth the drive, IMO.

I'm coming in from Thousand Oaks-ish.

I was going to look down at my OBC to see how far it was from the dealer ship home.

But you know how it is

I had to bring mine in last week, and they did a great job and even gave me a 3 series while I waited to find out what was wrong. It took an extra day, but they got it back to me just before MTTS.

I'm very disappointed in South Bay Mini -- they were ordering my chrome speaker rims and haven't heard from them in a VERY long time (actually it was June 6th!!). The first 'replacement' rims they got in were black - they were ordering the chrome ones & were going to notify me -- haven't heard a peep out of them. Drove all the way down there only to find they didn't even check to see what they received in the box was correct (it wasn't) - wasted trip & gas money too. Not very happy with their followup customer service.
