Cone scuff

Hey guys, any good advice for getting rid of some cone scuff's? What products and technics work best? I would normally post this on the "detailing" threads, but I figured fellow autocrossers would know more about this.

Thanks

Just wash the car as normal. That should get most of it off. If any remains try a cleaner/wax like Miguiars #6.

Any good cleaner wax and a little elbow grease will usually take 'em right off. I've also used The Wax Shop Safe Cut and the cleaner component of those 3 step cleaner / glaze / wax systems to get off thr really nasty ones.

I've found that if I get at least one good round of Zaino on the car before the start of the season it makes it much easier to deal with afterwards.

Anyone got any tips for taking them off your rocker panels. I clobbered a cone at the evo school and the scuff still hasnt washed off, that textured plastic is proving to be a PITA for me

I agree and when they won't come off it is time for the clay bar and a couple new coats of Zaino.

Is the "scuff" rubber residue from the cone or is the paint actually scraped up? For cone residue, I can usually roll it off with my thumb, or it will come off with a little extra attention when I wash. The longer it is on, the harder it will be to get off.

If the paint itself is scratched up, I typically start out with Meguiar's Scratch-X applied by hand, followed by a fresh spot application of wax.

If the mark on the plastic trim is cone residue, I'd use a moderately stiff bristle brush and a mild soap to get it off. If it scratched the plastic, you'd have to get a bit more creative to clean it up.

If the textured plastic is scuffed there is really nothing you can do. You can make it look a little better with Aerospace 303 but it will never look new.

What I think about my scuffs:

cone scuff=badge of honor (or dishonor as the mood suits me!)
