FS thread gone?

Had a thread in the tires section of the marketplace that vanished with no notification. Did I miss something?

There is a option when placing the ad that it will automatically delete at 7, 14 or 30 days; this is most likely the cause. It will allow you to relist the ad, and that relisting of the ad will place it back at the top of the list of for sale items.

DOH! I obviously missed that, thanks.

Out of curiosity, why do you do that? I run a boating forum, we leave the ads in place to help provide a pricing guide for our viewers.

We switched to the software in place now a few years back to make the marketplace more user friendly; it was updated at one point and that was included as a "feature" with no way to change it. We've been working toward marketplace options through update or making changes to the marketplace software, that wouldn't have that effect. The up side is as I kind of hinted at earlier though, that the motivated and aware seller can keep 5 ads going at once (or unlimited for Alliance members) and be relisting and updating every week to stay at the top of the list. And if you were to look back about 2 years there were complaints of ads being active for months with no sale mentioned on the listing, and people were upset when they inquired to find it had been sold or was no longer for sale or the seller was no longer active on NAM.

We kind of went one extreme to the other when the software updated, but it didn't let us keep near our happy medium, which seemed to be about 80-120 days where ads could be referenced but also kept fresh enough there was a likelyhood of a sale if you found a deal.

And I would like to note that ads marked sold are set differently than ads that are active, so that users can make payment and shipping arrangements and leave iTrader feedback and reference past sales for a price point (and listed price may not always be what is negotiated via PM). However I don't have that number in front of me and don't want to give out misinformation.

And now that we've Updated the marketplace today; I can say the options for new ads being placed are now 3, 7, 10, 15, 30, 60 or 90 days (defaulting at 15 instead of 7) and photo size limits have changed, two features that should make it much easier to post ads.

LOL, and everyone thinks there's no work involved in running a forum

Cool program, food for thought.

That got me on my last FS post. I was actually going back to mark it as sold. I think it's a nice feature, but obviously it can be overlooked in the listing process.

How do I edit my ads? I placed an ad for a brand new 15% reduction pulley and somehow it got marked as "sold" when it has not been sold. I didn't check it for a week and when I went to look, it was changed without my imput.
Also, I have another ad for tires and would like to bump it up for a little more "eyeballing". How do I do that without being an annoyance?
Thanks!
Rand
