When you post something to the marketplace, and then sell it, PLEASE take it down! No need to keep it there and give us false hopes when we turn out heads to see an item we like and see it to be already sold!
This would be much appreicated as I feel many people have the same gripes as I do.
Well, off my soap box...thanks for looking!

better to mark it SOLD. That way there is a record of the asking price at least
Your right! Very true that reference is very nice. However, make a seperate thread for that then. A whole other section, that way people can go there to check out prices. Sounds good, no?

How about a filter option in the User CP or on the Marketplace browsing section?
I personally don't care to look at something if it's sold (that's why i'm there to buy, right?), but can understand the want to have a record of sale prices / sale info / etc.
I'm totally with you, dtsoccer6... the flick of the head to the right when I get excited to find something, only to see it's sold is killing me.
and the sold price doesn't really matter unless there are a lot for sale andit's recent. If it comes up infrequently, then who cares what an M7 Extreme Scoop sold for 6 months ago.
How can we get the sold or no longer availabe stuff off the Marketplace? People who post a "sold" at least are helpful,;however, those who don't care should lose their ostensibly "good" status until rectified. This is a real time waster to say the least! I thought that adds had a time limit, if so then they should be automatically removed. This way we'll all have a realilstic view of what is or is no longer available. Cheers,Susan
P.S. The same should apply to people who don't respond to questions...if they really want to sell then get on with it!
they claimed to have cleaned this up, but it's hardly the case.
it's hit or miss when you contact a seller.
hell, i can't even get back in touch with a guy who DID sell me something 2 months ago even tho he ASKED ME TO regarding the quality of the product.
people are flakes, what can you do?
judging by the last 3 feedbacks, what do you think?
if i can still find ads that are still for sale, but have 4 or 5 comments below that look like:
"still avail?"
"PM sent"
"still for sale?"
"can you please get back to me?"
then that means it's not as "good" as you think. in fact, i'm with the others in saying that all SOLD items should be gone, or at least have an expiration time frame to be deleted completely.
give people credit that they don't need THIS marketplace to determine the value of their product. there are plenty of other places to gauge value, not to mention using a little common sense when pricing an item, such as MSRP, time used/condition, Reason for selling, and urgency for selling.

This is not the only thread discussing this topic, and in fact, in the other thread people asked for the SOLD items to remain for a period of time. This is how it has been handled.
And funny, because this is YOUR OWN response to the cleanup at the time:

funny indeed. the key word, however, is "at the time". but not sure how this quote is relevant to how i've always felt about the marketplace....
in the same thread, i also said/suggested:

As for sellers who "don't care to respond", those people should stay off this site. If buyers are inquiring, you should be able to write a simple message back saying it's sold or it should minimally remind you to take off the ad. By not responding is like deliberately being a jerk to someone else in the community. Is that the NAM that I'm supposed to get used to?
is this the inconsistency that you were suggesting?
i've ALWAYS been in favor of expiring ads, sold or not.
since then, it's true that i've had continued success with marketplace dealings (with the exception of one, of course), but it's also true that, upon further item searches and queries, the marketplace could still use more cleanup.
sorry, but just cuz you cleaned something once already doesn't mean it can't use more cleaning. and just because you always clean something one way doesn't mean you can't improve on your cleaning technique for better results, right?
Things are deleted after 6 months, sold or otherwise.
What you failed to address is all of the other people (read: not you) in that thread who would like items to stay for a certain amount of time. Once items are deleted, they're gone forever - it is better to err on the side of caution than to wildly delete things and be unable to retrieve them.
The things you now complain of (featuring sold ads and sellers not responding) are things that are not within our control. The system randomly chooses ads to feature. We have no control over that software. As far as sellers response is concerned, as I've said before, I'm not sure what you'd like us to do - hand-hold sellers into a response to your PM? If they're going to ignore you, they're going to ignore us.
These two things are what they are, and they're not going to change. Ads are removed after 6 months (with the exception of Classic Mini items, that is a slower market so things are left for a year), and that is how it's going to stay. Period. End of discussion.
My suggestion, as has been suggested before, would be to reset your expectations somewhat when responding to an ad that's more than, say, 60 days old. As a friend of mine said to me last night "I don't get what the big deal is. If they don't respond in a week, I move on to the next one."
