Performance Vendor Sub-Forum??

How much would it cost or how hard would it be to get a separated sub forum for each performance vendor (Alta/M7/RMW/Mynes/Craven/Etc..Etc..)

I think it should be part of their vendor package that gives them a place for technical support in one nice place.

I know there is a vendor announcement forum, but I don't think it is enough to cover full technical support for those vendors who are very active here.

This would be like MINI2 which lead to sub-forums per Vendor after the BS that also took place.

Yes, exactly.. a place for fan boys (AKA People who spent their hard earned money on what they thought was a good purchase)

Jan, that really sucks - your company REALLY needs a sub forum for as much stuff going on out there. Same with a few other vendors who are very passionate about their products!

Cheers,

Might want to ask this question in the site feedback area? Maybe IB or someone with clout will read it

Maybe we can find a way to take a vote. You'd think you'd have a better vendor section for paying the price to have the tag next to your name. Maybe a slight premium? Who knows.

For someone who is unfamiliar with Mini2, what exactly is there to stop another poster who isnt a "fan boy" of a vendor going into their respective forum and screwing around. Would they be moderated by the given vendor in that case?

Like here, there are hardcore fanbois there too and already identified to be connected to that Vendor based on their post history. I think they get disciplined by suspension in the forum for period of time.

NAM should now have a sticky for:
1. Post your best quarter-mile & trap speed based on mods.
2. Best track time (Time attack).
3. Best dyno numbers (this will be highly debatable).

Paul of 1320 (Minitorque) can chime in as he is very active in Mini2.

This is was addressed with vendors on and off over the last year that I have been a vendor. Before Mark sold to IB he had started work on http://www.northamericanmotoring.com...ndor-talk-264/ I know Nate moved the Vendor Talk area up to help more folks find it. I think it's a great place for the OP's type of idea. However we have had a hard time getting vendors, new and old, to use Vendor Talk and we have had a hard time getting NAM Members, new and old, to visit VT.

It was bought about because another vendor said that Jan and myself were attacking / ganging up on him.

We were just asking for proof about his claims, simple as.

The vendor has moderation rights in his own section then which then makes it look really strange when they edit it.

Personally I dont think it works, IMO because its at the bottom of the forum menu hardly anyone visits, I'm sure there's more traffic in E&D than there.

Though there are a lot of good points as well, your threads are always there in one section.

Unfortunatley the non petrolhead Mini owners dont understand the passion of being an out and out petrolhead and dont realise thats why people end up going faster and faster each year.

There answer is quite simple, if there is a heated debate dont look in on the thread.

IB does offer dedicated forums to a vendor as an optional add-on. there is an additional cost and I don't know what the cost is.

Is that a sponsored section - or their own company section. Maybe price wise is just isn't reasonable for some of the vendors??

There is a section, Dealerships and Aftermarket Vendors, where a vendor can purchase their own forum. It has 3 Dealers in it now, in the past there were other vendors.

As to the original question in this thread.

Quote:
How much would it cost or how hard would it be to get a separated sub forum for each performance vendor (Alta/M7/RMW/Mynes/Craven/Etc..Etc..)

I think it should be part of their vendor package that gives them a place for technical support in one nice place.
Cost, I'm not sure, a vendor would have to contact IB as they offer multiple packages and multiple options.

Difficulty, very little, time consuming to create one for each of the sites many vendors. Then what happens when the vendor decides it's time to close the forum or no longer wants to pay for the forum or even bails from the site. Do the posts stay in effect giving the vendor free advertising for life while others are still paying, or do you archive the forum to a hidden place with the subsequent loss of all the usable data?

BTW, this thread should be Site Feedback and is being moved there with a redirect that will left for 7 days in the previous location.
