Sig-O-Matic issues

So yah....I still have my summer sig I can't get the Sig-O-Matic to work.

I try to upload the image, or provide a web address. I make it to the resize/sharpening stage (an unnecessary step for me). Click the image....pause.....gets to a page that says "Invalid URL". I thought it was just a temporary issue so I waited a few days and then tried again. Still nothing. Waited a few more days....still didn't work.

I guess you are unable to just use your own hosted image within IMG tags as a sort of moderation so I can't just post my image.

Any insight? I've used this numerous times without issues so I don't think that I'm doing anything wrong (though I might be). The image is the right size and a jpeg.

Hmmm, I didn't have any issue playing around with my sig and a random graphic off the web.

It's almost summer down under!!

Seriously, PM me the URL you are trying to use.

Are you sure it's within the right file size not just the right pixel size (that's what's caused me the identical issue in the past)?

I've had issues too, tried to change my picture and couldn't. Thought it was just me, was going to wait until James came home from school to see if he could figure it out.

Yah, it'd be nice to be able to change my sig...... especially for vendor purposes. Any idea on how long this fix will take ?

I'd go back to the old fashioned way of doing a sig. Sig-O-Matic is a custom built NAM only feature. Seems to be low on the IB list of things to fix.

By old fashioned do you just mean using the original [img] tags? I had tried hosting the image on my own site and not using the sig-o-matic, but it still wasn't working. I'll go try again.

I assumed that the admins were requiring the use of [sigpic] and the sig-o-matic in order to enforce the required sig size.

Edit: just gave it a shot.

I have the image hosted on my site. It's the proper size and file type. If I place it in the original [IMG] tags the old fashioned way, it shows as an image in the edit box but when you preview the signature it shows up as a link to the picture. This is why i figured that [IMG] tags had been turned off in signatures and [SIGPIC] would be required in an attempt to cut down on over-sized sigs.

So I tried placing the web address of this new hosted image within [SIGPIC] tags but even when the correct webaddress is placed in between the tags, the old Sig still appears. My guess is that it's because my old signature is still saved from the sig-o-matic and it's pulling up whatever SIGPIC is hosted on NAM's site under my name.

I'd like to think that I'm pretty experienced in this stuff as I often change my sig on a regular basis without any problems, so I don't think that I'm missing anything....but I could be.

Mine looks like this....spaces added to show tags.

So yeah you need the sigpic in there.

Rally I'd just toss what ever you want into the gallery here and link out of there. Thats what I am doing now.

[ CENTER] Text I want.

Yah I tried similar coding to that and no matter what address i put in between [ sigpic] and [/sigpic] this old 'summer sale' sig still appears

Just tried it with the image you're using.

http://www.northamericanmotoring.com...pic31115_6.gif is the webadress for the small pic of the NAM magazine in your sig. I place that between the [sigpic] tags and the summer sale sig still appears. Went ahead and saved it that way and the wrong one still appears under my posts.

Since this is a custom product that Mark wrote for NAM and IB is going to move us to the latest version of vB soon, no time frame indicated, Sig-O-Matic is now a dead product.

I am having this issue too. Exactly the same problems as Rally. My sig is hosted in my gallery

1. Tried sigomatic - "Invalid URL"
2. Tried IMG tags - it posted a hyperlink to the pic
3. Deleted old sig and tried both again - same results

3 Months later, any signs that IB plans on fixing this? Is there someone I can contact to talk about this situation? I'd like the ability to change my sig for vendor purposes......

Sorry to hear of the ongoing issue... but in case there is misdirected frustration, I want to point out that the Moderators and Administrators are ultimately powerless to fix it. Administrators like me might have enough "rights" in the system to fix it, but we be at risk of causing more problems, not less. It really needs vBulletin expertise that the mod/admin team simply doesn't have... so we'd need help from Mark (not likely since he's so busy with other things now) or Internet Brands (just as unlikely!).

Hopefully it will get addressed eventually - either by tweaking the Sig-O-Matic to work, or removing it so the manual signature image uploads work properly again.

I wish I could help further!

I understand that it's not up to the Mod's and Admin's. There wasn't any frustration aimed at you guys

Is there someone that I can contact at IB? I haven't been able to find a list of IB people that deal with NAM to contact for help.

The IB employee we've had the most direct contact with is "IB Adrian" here on NAM, but I know he's spread pretty thin amongst a variety of sites, so I don't think he's here every day.

Beyond that, direct contact (i.e. phone) might be worth a try, especially since you're a vendor. According to the IB website, their phone number is (800)692-2200, and they are located in El Segundo, CA.

I did about a week ago. No response, so I have a nifty new signature asking IB to fix my signature.

Over the past few months, I have been getting a feeling that IB just does not care about this community beyond the revenue that it provides.
Maybe it's time to find or create another board.
