Fall Foliage Scavenger Hunt & Drive

Hello,

This is Dustin in Chicago, I want to join you all on the 17th, but, I need to know where the last stop is, so I can see if I can get back to Naperville in time for a party that I can't miss. If you could post or email the stop address/city that would be great.

THanks Dustin

Hi Dustin!

The last stop will probably be in the HWY 83 or HWY 164 and I-94 area in Waukesha county. It will be a restaurant so we can grab some lunch and hopefully be able to see the Packer and/or Bear games (both at noon that day). We don't have final details yet, but hope to relatively soon and will post on here.

Final Details are coming...

Sorry for the delay in posting the final details of the Fall Foliage event, but Wade and I are still on MTTS and need to finalize the route this weekend once we get home. We will be ending the drive by 11:30 am at a sports bar in Brookfield (or close to it) so that we're close to a freeway and everyone can catch the Packer game, if desired! We'll be posting plans on our website on Monday, and then will be sending out an email to all Milwaukee MINI members on Tuesday.

Next year, we'll plan this on the day of the Packer vs. bear game!!!

The Official Scoop!

The Fall Foliage Poker Run will be held on Sunday, September 17th, and all(regardless of whether you are a member, or whether you are from Wisconsin) are welcome.

We will be meeting at 8:45 AM at American TV on County F in Waukesha. This is at exit #295 off of I-94. In case you have an old map, this used to be called Hwy. 164, but was recently changed. Just be sure to take Exit #295, and you'll see us! We'll be meeting here for a pre-drive meeting and cars will begin leaving at 9:00 AM. Our 65-mile adventure will include rustic roads in the Holy Hill area and the Kettle Moraine Scenic Drive in the lake country area, ending with lunch at Water Street Brewery in Delafield at 11:45 AM. Menu: http://www.waterstreetbrewery.com

Conveniently, this means that if you want, you can also watch the Packers vs. Saints game, which begins at Noon. We've reserved a party room, and TV's are going to be tuned in to the game.

The drive will include a number of stops along the way where you will collect a playing card. The best poker hand at the end of the drive wins! You can drive on your own if you like, or as a group. We will all meet up at each of the stops to get our card and directions, and there is no prize for being the fastest. Snacks, a navigator and/or map is helpful, but not necessary. We're driving rain or shine.

Questions? Visit http://www.milwaukeeMINIS.com after September 4th. And please be sure to rsvp to theresa@milwaukeeMINIS.com - see you there!

One final note...

One final note about the Drive on September 17th that will make me sound like a mom, or a lawyer, neither of which I am. We want to share in advance a reminder that this event isn't about who can do the drive the fastest, but rather it is for everyone to enjoy the scenic route. We will be on very rustic roads, with loose gravel and sharp unmarked turns.

Please plan to make safety our #1 priority.

Indeed! Glad you'll be able to make it up.

Actually, all the roads on the route are paved. There are just a couple of corners that have some loose gravel (either from the shoulder or recent roadwork) on them which might lead to some loss of traction. So rest assured, there are no gravel roads!

Hey Theresa! I wanted to ask you how things were going when I saw you at MTTS-Indy... Nice! your picture came out great on the page

Donations have been slow this year unlike past years. I went to a wake tonight for a friend who lost his dad to a heart attack this week. I was so inspired I sent out another set of emails looking for donations. I only have a few weeks left 'cuz the Walk is 10/1. I'll probably make my annual donation and hope for the best. I'm no where near my goal... but every little bit counts. See you next week

Thanks Milwaukee MINIs!!!!

What a great run

So glad we made the trip up to join you guys. Once again, thanks for the hospitality. The family really enjoyed the drive and and conversations before/during/after.

Special thanks to Theresa for the perfect directions (we'd probably still be out there after missing Hogsback Rd ) and to Tom, Wade and Theresa for setting up the route (love that turnabout).

To all of the nice Milwaukee MINIs I met, I hope you guys come on down to join CMMC for our Starved Rock cruise on 10/29 .

Definitely!

Wow, what a great run! Thanks to Theresa, Wade, Tom, and everyone else who helped set this up. Beautiful day, terrific course, even better company

I have to say, I think I finally complete my engine brake-in yesterday. I swear my MCS was purring today like a content kitty...

Thanks to everyone for coming out! What a great turnout and a great group to hit the twisties with! And the weather??? Who knew the weatherfolks could be so wrong? It was a perfect day for driving, despite the armageddon that was predicted. Happily no accidents despite the desperate efforts of some deer and wild turkeys (no...not the whiskey)!

I'm glad folks enjoyed the drive. I did much of my "break-in" period driving around that area and stumbled on some of the fun roads. Kudos to Theresa and Wade for putting it together! I'm sure we'll return to the area again sometime in the future, and maybe even stop at Holy Hill itself when there aren't festivals/church services going on. The view is spectacular.

Great Pics MiniMac! I will have photos eventually on my website, but not for a while yet.

If anyone has any ideas of future drives we could do, we would love to hear from you. Drop me a PM here or shoot me an email at minishagzATmacDOTcom.

All non-CMMC folks, be sure to check out CMMC's website for some other Fall drives they have coming up...in particular, the Starved Rock run on 10/29.

Thanks again and see you on the road!

-Tom
