Before I start modifying my own, I might be interested in purchasing a used, modified R53 engine with pretty high horsepower if the price is fairly reasonable. At least I would like to look into it but don't know where to look.

The 2 biggest vendors selling race stuff are RMW in CA, and Sneed in NC. If you can't find any private people you might want to try either of them.
