OH.
I'm
SO.
THERE.
I LOVE the fall. And I LOVE railroads! And I LOVE MINI's. AND I love RALLY's (not that this is technically a RALLY-RALLY, more of a Let's-Find-Lot's-Of-Twisty-Roads-And-Pretend kind of Rally)
This is a week before I become totally broke with the roof graphics, tint, and pully

Hmmm will have to see about this one.
..as this conflicts with the single most IMPORTANT religous holiday on the calendar for me, the Annapolis Sailboat show

Question - good idea before end of break-in period?
I will be nowhere near the end of the break-in period. Would it be too hard on a new mini right away? It is a CVT and I have come NOWHERE close to 4200rpms.

Val and I are going to dry run the route this Saturday (10/1/05). My plan is to do it at the 9 AM start time and verify there are no traffic surprises or road condition problems. A limited number of MINIs are welcome to join us if you want. email me at valnmike2@yahoo.com we can exchange cell phone numbers and coordinate any details as needed.
Here is a mapquest link to the start point. If you put in your (home address) start point it will provide driving directions to the Burger King.

This was a fantastic run last year with GREAT planning and EVEN BETTER roads. Paul, I am tentative as the 8th is my last "free" weekend before I go and I may need to do something like actually pack....but I will try to be there.

Isn't the show also on Sunday? I'm probably going to the show too, but on Sunday. Just a suggestion. Sunday is a conflict with the volunteer meeting at Marina's DC place though (which was originally on the 8th).

Thur through Monday actually
Yup, actually the show is 5 days. Thur is 'VIP' day which means you pay triple to do it on a less crowded day. Also the Oysters and really high end stuff are usually open on Thur to browse vs. a appointment and letter of credit needed to board on the rest of the days. Problem is Thur got to be just as busy as everyone figured that out.
I need 2 days on boats. Also need 1-2 for vendors depending on projects on my own boat I'm planning or working on.
Of course, if I win the lottery I could just skip the projects and buy a Nauticat, Goazzard, Jeanneau 49 DS, Oyster!, or Swan!

Wagnbat's comment was just a tease, since Paul made one or two wrong turns on one of the drives this year, when he had planned the route. I don't have any authority in this (of course), but I can't imagine any reason why you wouldn't be leading the run, since it's your run!
Just be warned, don't lead 20 or 30 MINIs way off course and have to backtrack, or you'll be subject to the same teasing.

paying the extra bucks and going on Thursday is so worth it...at least in my book. We'll be doing the same thing for the powerboat show the following week.
That way, you can come to the meeting.....

...we merely just took an unscheduled scenic tour of the local highways, then I led us skillfully back to the area where we left off!
-Paul!
PS - You're still leading Mike!
