I've been to 2 of these in the past, so I'm definately an amateur; but I plan to get out there and eat a giant slice of Humble Pie. Somebody bring the ketchup!
We need to get the band back together for this one!

PS Has anyone noticed that the powers that be within SCCA absolutely HATE the 02-05 JCW MCS? Look at the class they put it in... The 06 and later run in B-Stock, but the early ones are even worse than that. Doesn't really matter, I ain't out there to win...just have fun and hang out.
I'm not only going to drive, but I'm also expecting to lose BIG!
You need to drive, it's no big deal. There's a little course set up with pylons. The drivers are split into 2 groups. One group drives, while the other group is on cone duty. (Set up the cones that get knocked over) You'll have a blast.
BRING SUNSCREEN! The pavement reflects the sun's rays, so you get a double dose. I missed 4 days of work with sun poisoning and endured several painful shots after my last autocross. A cooler full of Gatorade or bottled water would be handy too.
Yikes!! OK, I'll try it! Do people do this in convertibles?? Lemme see...top up or down??
I think I need to do some more reading about this!
(That's not Mother's Day weekend is it?)
I just registered online. This is what I have been hoping and waiting for - autocross back in Chattanooga. I am truly a novice, having only attended an Atlanta Region SCCA autocross school last summer. I hope there is a good turnout so we can see more events and competition here in our backyard in the future.
Well, I have no skill and no training but I will be there. I have done this once several years ago, and even if you don't get a good time you will have great fun.
Yes, anything like this in Chattanooga should be suppported.
Sounds like a lot of fun, but I'm worried that I may end up with some "cone marks" on my car if I sign up! I guess you have to disable DSC and expect to put some extra wear on your tires for an event like this!

Cone marks = orange badges of courage (they do come of pretty easy, or so I have been told). Definitely DSC off! I look forward to seeing a strong MINI presence at this event.
The cones are the little skateboarding cones, not the road construction cones! They're small and light...just don't run over them, and there won't be any cone marks!

PS I kill a LOT more cones than I do clay targets...somebody pass the ConeOFF!
OK...I've signed up!! Where can I find out more about all this?? I think I should learn more before the 21st!!
Looking forward to seeing everyone...Should we have a get-together before or after doing this?? Anybody interested?
If you look at some of the various SCCA regional websites, including the East Tennessee Region and the Atlanta Region SCCA, you will find various links to helpful information - one of the best sources of information is what is known as the Solo II Novice Handbook. It is a very simple yet thorough guide to getting started in Solo II (autocross) competition. I printed it out and keep it in a little folder for quick reference. Hope that helps.
