This coming weekend (the 11th or 12th) looks pretty good weather-wise and for me, schedule-wise if anyone is interested in a drive around Lookout Mountain. What I am thinking about is a late morning or early afternoon start from my home on Lookout off of Highway 189 (a few miles from the hang gliders), with a 1-2 hour drive with a couple of sight-seeing and maybe phot-op stops. With nice weather, I'm thinking about ending at Cloudland Canyon State Park with a picnic and opportunities for anyone interested in a little or alot of hiking and/or a little Frisbee golf (they have an 18 hole Frisbee golf course).
The route is not really planned out yet, but would of course incorporate some fun twisties up and down the Mountain, maybe a little Sand Mountain as well.
I realize schedules are never easy to coordinate, so just let me know your thoughts. Any and all input would be appreciated. Since this is pretty short notice, depending on the response, I may come up with some alternative future dates.
And for those wanting to do some REALLY serious driving, Phil Wickes is having one of his driving schools in Nasville this weekend. I attended one last summer in Alabama and loved it. I learned an awful lot about driving generally and driving our little cars specifically. It was money ($300) well spent.
