Go or No-Go on this JCW Paceman?

Greetings fellow Paceman enthusiasts,

We have been window shopping Pacemans for about 18 months and there happens to be a JCW Paceman in our state, we have already test driven it, we haggled out a price. Now we need a gut check to make sure we're getting an OK deal. The Paceman is an odd vehicle, especially the JCW, and it is tough to say what a good deal is on a rareish / luxuryish / performanceish car as all of these things factor into the perceived value and depreciation of the vehicle in their own way.

Relevant tidbit: This car is for sale at a Honda dealership. They know very little about the car but it appears that it will still transfer factory warranty until 50k mi. It's not as nice as CPO, but it's enough time to flush out any gremlins with any luck.

Anyways, the facts:

2015 Paceman S All4 JCW

30,000 miles / one owner / two MN winters (=/)

Metallic Black w/ red roof and bonnet stripes

Just about fully loaded with the exception of GPS (it has the mini connected infotainment but not the GPS I guess?) Doesn't bother us since traffic enabled maps trump built in navs anyways.

Even has factory roof rails and rally lights <3

Aaaand now for the price...

Listed 3 weeks ago for $30k They are down to $29.5k. It was covered in ice and snow when we test drove it, I suspect we are the only people to ask about it.

After we test drove it we told them that NADA/KBB said we should ask $25k. Their eyes bulged and they countered $29k. We are thinking they paid a bit too much to the PO to convert him to Honda. Anyways after about an hour of heated discussion they backed down to a tempting price.

$27,000

It's not a screaming deal, but I'm very hesitant to let a near perfect JCW slip through our fingers.

Thoughts? All input welcome.

Thanks for your time,
Ando

Edmunds is pretty reliable for values. A quick plugin there with most all options ect shows just over $31K retail. So its quite decent at 27!

man that thing is sharp! Id say if you dont drive a TON its nice, that way you will use your couple years of warranty instead of just the 20K remaining miles.

Edmunds! I've used that in the past with good results (typically more accurate than KBB/NADA) but I seem to always forget the name by the time I'm shopping my next car.

Mind you I would drive something different every 3 months if private party sales tax wasn't a thing. I guess I just have a terrible memory.

Cheers,
Ando

Hah! I take it your google-fu lead you to the exact car in question?

Check it out here for anyone feeling more lazy. Just don't buy it out from under us!

Unfortunately we put on a little more than average miles and this would be the vehicle of choice over the Abarth for long trips. No matter, we have a trusted 3rd party Mini shop when we blow through the warranty.

Yeah I did. If you are $$comfortable$$ with your preferred shop past warranty then it'd likely be just fine. Just know it'll be worth peanuts in 2-3 years. If you plan to keep it 5 or 6 years then itll still be worth peanuts, but it wont hurt as much.

Yes! Well no. Sort of. I just stole photos from the dealer we found it at. I want to do a family portrait with the MCS, Paceman, and 500 but they won't be simultaneously clean until the salt is off of the roads. =P

Pics on my Greetings thread.
