Is the Paceman truly gone for good?

I was just wondering is anyone has heard whether the Paceman/Countryman are being redesigned for 2017. I heard the Paceman is by order only right now.

I have an R53 Cooper S right now, but hope to look into a Paceman at a later date.

If anyone has any insight on the future of the Paceman, please post.

The new Countryman will debut this year: http://www.motoringfile.com/2015/12/...yman-interior/

Sales of the Paceman were really bad (MINI probably lost money on it) and I doubt there will be a new one. Or it might become just a special edition Countryman, still with 4 doors.

2016 was the last Pacemen. Look on the website you no longer see Pacemen. Due to lack of the sales they wanted along with they needed a place to make the new 5 series BMW. They chose to kill the Pacemen and replace its spot in the Austria Factory to fit the new BMW 5 series. so if you own any Paceman. Hang on to it just as the owners who love the Cooper Coupe.

There will never be another Paceman, it was an exercise in style over function, and though it was perfect for me, most buyers passed it by for the more practical Countryman.

Exactly.

The three models that are rare are the Coupe, roadster, and Paceman. I wanted one of those and went for the Paceman. Minis are not common as it is, let alone a rare mini 😉

Totally agree with you both. and GVFlyer. your reply is exactly why i sold My 2012 VW GTI/DSG Autobahn, APR Tuned (Great Car) for My 2015 Paceman S All4 6M, Jungle Green, Rally Lights. I owned that 2012 JCW Coupe you see here. and made drastic mistake of letting it go, only to find out they stopped making. My fiance found my Paceman S All4 and as soon as i found out they stopped making ,... its a must hold!!! I will post some pics of Marvin (As the Paceman is called )

Wow and a spice orange jcw coupe is the rarest colour of em all! Sorry to make you feel even worse! But you have a rare colour paceman now!

I love the form over function on the coupe, roadster and paceman. people are just staring at the paceman - they don't know what it is. you never see them on the road!

Thank you. Both were fortunate finds before I purchased...
I believe any Mini owner likes that same feeling of being Rare.

Paceman

Congrats on a great find! There's a really interesting article about the thinking behind the "concept of the future" Paceman that was printed on June 17, 2011. It's in our article section at the lower right of the page.

I tried reading up on the Paceman, watching reviews, and keep seeing comments along the lines of, "Skip the Paceman and just get a Countryman". I dunno, I didn't see much of a difference -- the lower roofline isn't all that bad for the rear seat -- still has room. But I prefer the sporty styling. I dunno, quirky to be sure, but what the heck?

That's exactly part of why the Paceman sold poorly — not enough difference from the Countryman. The loss of 2 doors is a negative for most buyers (and will make it harder to sell used), and on top of that they priced it higher than the Countryman.

The styling looks much more sporty, though! I kind of like it. For those who like it, I guess the relative rarity makes it a bit more special.

Looks like the BMW X2 will be the new "Paceman."

Just saw the X2 at NAIAS, looks to be almost the same size as the New Countryman. very pointy in the front on the X2.

Part of the reason that I purchased a Mini Paceman was it's resemblance to a Range Rover Evoque - rare, flashy, sporty, unique.

If I didn't need 4 doors which I tried to justify so much I would love the paceman..such a good looking mini love it's sporty stance and lines. Alas I am a countryman at heart.

While the phrase “form over function” is used as a pejorative to mean the design of something is undeservedly given precedence over that thing’s ability to get work done, in the case of the Paceman versus the Countryman, I prefer the Paceman's embrace of "form over function" to the more traditional "form follows function" embodied by the Countryman.
