*** Engine Light ***

Another bigger problem arises!

When it's around 2000 rpm, the speedometer drops by itself and returns. After a while, the engine light comes on. Does anyone know what happened? I'll take it to the dealership since it is under warranty. Will everybody updated.

I went to dealership yesterday. The technician said that the reason is because I put 89 fuel, although it says clearly on the gas tank cover that the 89 is ok.

He said that the fuel in Canada has "ethanol" in it, which somehow downgrades the octane level. In other words, I have been using 87 fuel.

I put full tank of 91 octane yesterday, but it remains the same today. I'll take it to dealership again on Monday.

Anybody has the same problem before? Will keep everyone updated.

Just put 91 in it but temporary the engine should compensate for the 89.

Possible bad gas, make sure you buy gas from a teir one supplier for fuel.

Also I would have them check the HPFP and the fuel pump in the back, did you run the gas low and possible suck of something from a gas station.

I would have them investigate this more.

Good luck.

You are welcome, sounded like a dead coil and then they changed out the plugs to be sure you were getting spark.

Since you are in Toronto and there have been numerous threads on this site about using only premium fuel, here is a list of what ethanol free fuel is available in your area;

Ontario: Shell V-Power 91; Costco 91; Canadian Tire 91; Esso 91; Ultramar 91.

Personally i use Shell V-Power 90% of the time & Esso 91 when i cant find a Shell station.

thanks mikey for the information.

the mini technician said that "shell v-power" is good with no ethanol, but he said that both "petro Canada" and "esso" have ethanol, and "esso" is even worse than "petro Canada"!?
