countryman all 4 rear driveshaft

I am doing a clutch change on mama' s 2011 countryman all 4 , 6 speed manual. Trying to remove driveshaft between trans and rear differential, have shaft loose at differential and hanger bearing loose. The front end has a large hex nut and a larger 12 point nut. Do I hold 12 point nut and spin the hex nut off?? or does it pry out like the front axles?? . I ordered a Bentley manual but would like to move on with project. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Dano

I found it on an ebay search , 97 bucks free shipping. My e-mail confirm said Voss motors inc and sales@books4cars.com on it. It was that yellow hard cover book , didn't say countryman on the cover but the description said it covered it. I was gonna buy one of them cd-roms but they said countryman was not on it. I hope I don't get the wrong one.

You can use it for the N18 or N16 engines and transmissions. But the All4 is not covered.

Where did you get it ?

Unfortunately, there is nothing available for the Countryman at this time. However, since we provide DIY tech articles for R50/R52/R53/R56 we may look into a Countryman in the future.

Yea, that's ebay. Most stuff on there is incorrect. The one we have listed above with the correct coverage. If you need anything else let me know.

Nothing for the Countryman yet, if the Bentley version one does come out , we will be the first to have to. You can use that one you bought for the Engine / non 4 wheel drive transmission parts.

O yes sir I got the rear driveline loose from transfer case. I put a monsterous channel locks on the 12 point nut on the transfer case and a huge cresent wrench on the 6 point nut. It is backwards thread and was put on with loctite so some muscle was required.a heat gun may have helped a bit. The nut stays the transfer case it has some sort of flange on it. The drive line has male threads on it. Parts are on the way. Mama will be back on the road soon . That clutch job is a quite an undertaking.

Thanks for the diagram, I appreciate your help. I am getting a quite an education on this project. The next thing is to go after a P052B fault code camshaft position timing, cold start intake. The dealer was asking twentyfour hundred to fix that. I am going to search for some info on that now.

I am in the process of taking my transfer case out due to a trans leak. When you say it's reverse threaded which way we're you looking at it? If I'm under the car looking towards the front I loosen the big nut clockwise?

Also does anyone know the part number for the mini tool to remove the driveshaft nut?

Jeffster: I just got notification of your Question 3-20-16 . I cant remember exactly which way to turn it but dont be afraid to try what seems backwards. I know this sounds redneck but it will not get tighter, if you start to get movement, you are going the right way. the driveline has male threads on it and i believe the 6 point nut stays on the transfer case with the 12 point nut. Hope this helps Dano

For the record, the driveshaft nut loosens clockwise as you look toward the front end while underneath the driveshaft. It is tight as sheet!

I bought a 50mm wrench for the 6pt nut. I tried placing a pipe wrench on the 12pt nut but it is too big and keeps moving! any insight? As you can see, the whole assembly is outside the car.

Maybe it needs 'monsterous channel-locks' like the OP used? Also, might be tough to get all the muscle behind it unless you have some buddies to hold it steady.
