R60 New Speakers Did the Trick
#101
I have my ISCs but no plan to install them short term, so I can't really assess the clearance - holiday season means traveling to family rather than having time on my hands at home :(
Looking at the images of the stock speakers further up this page its clear that their magnets are not very big diameter, but the speakers are quite deep. I wonder whether its the diameter of the 100AC magnet that causing your clearance issues rather then the physical depth of the speakers. I've not compared the dimensions to the 100ISC but i suspect the magnets are bigger on the 100ac

Ordered a pair of ISC100 today - I plan to drop them in the front doors initially, but during installation I'll check the triangular trim panel for a possible future swap out to components ( and move the ISCs to the rear doors).
Just under $88 delivered so can't complain.
Does anyone know how to remove the trim panel ? - mine has the window switches on the door so no vertical handle with screws behind.

Yeah i totally agree, if your going to be driving over the holiday season might not be the best time to install :P
Im just going to be setting up the exchange next week and get them installed later middle of January since me and my girlfriend are going to be heading on a 1000 mile road trip right after the new year in the mountains i definitely want everything working then.
ah yeah but didnt think of speaker diameter :( ah well, but it was mostly cosmetic if i recall is the difference between the isc and the ic's so there shouldn't be issues with that. :D
After all this is done, subs are next .. eventually.. , those earthquakes sws you pointed out seem to be a good choice for the under seat replacements

Can anyone tell me what I'm missing?

Did you ever figure that out? I'm replacing the speakers in my wife's CMS and she has the same style. There appears to be a snap-in cover over a screw in the bottom of the finger well of the door pull — same plastic as holds the switches. According to the parts diagram that screw comes out. But I can't get the little cover to snap back out.
Can anyone tell me what I'm missing?

Beneath it is a T20 screw. Remove that, then pop out the finger well. Behind that, two more, longer T20s secure the whole panel assembly to the door.

They very nearly don't fit; you must be quite firm in putting the door panel back on. But they do fit.

Just reading through this thread and the comment about "paper" cone speakers is absolutely INCORRECT. Yes the factory paper cone speakers are crap-tastic, but to make a general comment to stay away from paper coned speakers for this application is ridiculous. I'm really curious where that information/opinion came from.

Hey everyone .. sorry to bring this thread back up . But again I went to best buy to have the isc100 installed. Again there was problems getting the speacker to fit... from the looks of it the magnet was a bit too wide compared to the factory speakers. And was rubbing up on the top of the doorframme. They were reluctant to force the speaker and trim into place ands referred me to a customs audio shop.
Did anyone notice this problem or have a special way to mount it? Or was it a direct replacement to the factory speakers set?

I had to return mine, I had the same issue. I think they changed the design of these speakers since they did fit for some members here.
I ended up getting a pair of JT speakers from the installer. I am very happy with the results.
I also added this little equalizer/booster between my phone and the input. Really improves the sound, I highly recommend it.

Has anyone tried replacing the 6.5 subs under the seats yet? I saw that Rockford Fosgate now has a shallow fit sub, but the starting size is 8". Earthquake Sound also has an OEM size 6.5" shallow sub I've seen in other threads that fit with a little trimming. I'm not familiar with that brand though, and can't find any retailers around to give me a demo. I've had good luck with the Rockford Fosgate brand before, but I REALLY don't want to take out the seats and subs just to take measurements and then order. Kinda want to do it all at once. Any suggestions?

Crap! I just received a pair of IC 100s that I ordered last week. Did the install shop say why they didn't fit? I saw on another thread that someone had installed the IC 100s without a problem. Maybe a bit of shaving is needed?

Just had the IC 100s installed. No problems and they sound great It took my local install shop a little over an hour. When I asked if they had any problems, the guy said that he had to make a bracket to accommodate the now 4-hole mounts. As for fit depth, he didn't have a problem.
I think that the shops having to fabricate custom mounting brackets has more to do with the fit problems CM owners are facing, than the speakers. Maybe the thickness of the bracket is the culprit?
