Just found this thread after 21 months of ownership. Here are the numbers:

11,192 miles
293:39 hours top down
378 hours driven*
Top down driving average: 85.1%*
* = math is hard, but that feels about right.

Essentially the only time the top is up is when its raining or when the lady-friend is riding shotgun. (Recently there was a week when it was <40 degrees to and from work, so yeah, there's that too.) Would love to nail down the definitive formula though. You know- for entertainment/non-scientific purposes.

PS: Thanks OP for this thread!

I hate this winter! Just managed to log my first top down time for a month. 25 degrees, sunny and dry roads after a snowstorm the day before. I love this car!

Last year I had more days top down in February than I did in March...

Boy am I in pain..

Last Saturday it was almost 45 degrees out. I thought to myself, there is hope, just maybe.

My wife and I went out to lunch and spent 3 hours with the top down riding around the back roads of the Quabbin Reservoir in Massachusetts.

It was great, but it was the only top down day in February and only one in January.

Boy is it cold, you think Spiney's car is dirty. I'm too embarrassed to take a picture......

I even lowered my top down temps form 37 to 30 degrees as long as the sun is out and it's not too windy. Forget about it..

This winter is no fun for sure here in the north east. I was able to wash the car only 2, 3 time this winter which kills me when I see it dirty.

We got lucky last weekend. It got a full detailing and we were able to drive it top down for a few hours with a nice sun, but for the rest of the time it has been too darn cold
It snowed again the next day...

We've dropped alway down to 52% top down so far and it's going to keep declining until the temperature start to rise again. We still need a full year with the car to know our average and I'm optimistic but it is going to be a long way to recovery... as long as our yearly average is above 50% I'll be happy. Otherwise we just going to have to move

That all said I've still enjoy driving the roadster top up. Maybe I'm the only person who actually doesn't mind some road noise through the soft top. It's not as much fun as the top down for sure but I found the noise gives me a connected spirited driving feel on twisty roads

The last time I reported in was November 30th. I've been afraid to even look at my results because of how depressing this will ultimately be.

THE LATEST STATS:
7990 miles
110.47 hours top down
144.80 hours top up
Top down driving average is 43.2%

Spring is right around the corner, right?

I had the top down on the Roadster today for a little while at lunch. So exciting!

TDD percentage has dropped just a bit more but I was able to get a few hours of TDD over the last few weeks. Hopefully more to come now that old man winter has seemed to have left the Midwest. I can't wait to see what my average TDD percentage is for BUSTER's one year mark on May 31st.

THE LATEST STATS:
9652 miles
120.09 hours top down
188.29 hours top up
Top down driving average is 38.9%

Sorry to hear yours dropped further. But the good news is that it's all down hill from here, meaning weather should just improve everyday

I feel pretty good with our Stats. Unless something goes terribly wrong I think we've accomplished our goal for the year since I doubt we will be driving less top down than this winter. Our main goal was to drive no less than half the time top down...

Since last August (when we picked up our R59):
6693miles
132hr top down
which is about 50% top down . . . yeah.
This last gas fill was the first time our average went up since this last winter, and this winter was rude!

At about 50% it would be about the same as down 132 some hrs

Short of looking at it every day, I do my calculation based on my average miles per hour between each gas fill so I can account for some variation which is more accurate than always use to the latest ml/hr displayed if that makes any sense...

You have a better ml/hr average than us.
We're around 25 ml/hr while you are around 31 ml/hr
That's the down side of us living in a dense suburb with stops everywhere.

I got that, TG. I just didn't know if you were calculating the top up hours with the average drive speed divided by the total miles.

You know another way than using the average ml/hr speed? I looked into finding
something more accurate but there seems to be no way around to get some idea of time in the calculation.
So using the average driving speed between gas fill seems to be convenient enough. I'm sure it's not perfect but it should be good enough.

Anyone have an ODB II adapter? Maybe there's a total hours driven readout in there somewhere?

I have an ODB II reader but it just looks for codes/CEL. We'd need something that can read BMW MINI system to even know if that's in there. Perhaps a good question to ask on the general forum section

I guess I'm not trying to make a science out of it. An average is fine with me.

You're the one who asked about this
I'm not either . . . I certainly don't think about that while I'm driving top down. My mind is definitely else where !

. . . To me it's mostly out of curiosity which is without limits

Since May 2013, 233 hours over 10K plus miles. Would be more but the darn top won't go down below 14 degrees. Been told my MINI service that it is to protect the hydraulic system for the top, but others have told me that's to protect the nut behind the wheel.

My manual top will go down at any temperature, but 20 degrees and sunny is about my limit for short trips.

Rolled over 30,000 miles on the way down to the Dragon, and today finally rolled over 300 hours on our way back to the hotel.

It has been one year today since taking delivery of my Roadster BUSTER. It certainly has been an interesting year but more importantly, a better driving experience. I'm so pleased that I chose the MINI Roadster for my new vehicle.

THE LATEST STATS (1 year exactly):
10,579 miles
138.16 hours top down
202.01 hours top up
Top down driving average is 40.6%

You've got to do much better for its new year

Our goal was no less than 50%
I have not log in our latest numbers but so far so good to make it and that's with a pretty cold winter. I think we got lucky that there were some times this winter we actually drove top down or we wouldn't have made it just yet...

I certainly would have achieved our 50% minimum if our Chicago "spring" wasn't wet and cold for most of the time.
