License Plate Bulbs Burning........

I posted earlier this month about this. I have another one blinking from time to time and sending signal to the dash display.

We all know the Coupe hatch is very heavy and may cause excessive vibration. Furthermore, the lightbulb sockets seems to be very cheap.

Anybody has a fix for this problem in the meantime I will travel for my next service?

Richard,

I've had a lot of luck so far with replacing the bulbs with LED bulbs. Have you tried LED replacement yet?

My ZIZA leds on the plate have been good and no issues. I already have 67K miles on the R58, put them in at 19K.

The "sockets" are cheap, yes, but if you can get the bulb(s) out, you can bend the "fingers" of the socket a little closer together. It will be more difficult to insert the bulb again but you shouldn't have issues flickering any more.
If you're going LED, you'll need good bulbs that won't cause an bulb-out error (I suspect the ZIZA LEDs are good). They'd have the same vibration issue if you change nothing else, though.
Otherwise, you can code out that bulb check... Carly and NCSExpert will both do it.

Is it easier to take out the bulbs by removing the handle from the hatch?

I am convinced the problem is not related to OEM bulbs as some seem to suggest but more about an electrical issue.

You know, I hadn't thought about taking off the handle. Changing those bulbs was a PAIN. I couldn't figure out whether I needed a helper to hold the hatch or a chair to contort myself.
Give it a try, it's just 4 torx screws. Behind it is a simple plug harness.
