Possible to disable cabin motion sensor?

Hi Everyone,

I picked up my '15 MINI Cooper S Convertible yesterday and it is so awesome.

But I went to the bank today to withdraw some loot from ATM and I locked the vehicle with my dog in the back seat. The rear windows were down so she could stick her head out.

When I came back to the car, the alarm was going off and my dog was bugging out and I guess it was because I locked the vehicle and she must have moved around a bit in the back seat while waiting for me to return. No problem when I had to stop a few minutes later and left the vehicle unlocked.

Is it possible to disable the motion sensor in the cabin? If I have the top down, I plan on putting my belongings in the trunk anyways.

Thanks,
Emile

Last time I tried to do the same: take my Westie with me in the car. Parked and remote locked the car with her still in side, and the top was down. She jumped down into the foot areas of the front seat and set off the alarm. I wasn't even by the Redbox DVD return and had to reach for the keys and unlock the car, which turned off the alarm.

There might be a way to do this by setting the autolock feature, but again, I don't know if that also turns on the alarm. Looking forward to the answer as well.

I looked in the owners manual and there is a way to disable the tilt and motion sensor while the vehicle is in transport or when there are people or animals still in the car.

The directions state to:
Press the lock button on the remote twice.
Put the integrated key into the door lock and lock twice.
Alarm LED will "flash in succession for two seconds" to confirm.

This only works for that one time, though. Next time the vehicle is locked, motion and tilt sensor are back in effect. Gonna try it and see if it works, it may be helpful to me sometimes.

I hope somebody has a more permanent solution?

I the no they make it hard because of the high profile cases of folks leaving a baby in the car....
Have you tried covering the sensor?

I believe the tilt in the front under the hood / motion sensors for the R57 are behind each panel ( door) and rear back seat. It does not have a motion sensor like the R56 in the overhead. R58 and R59 are in the doors also.

I know with the OEM alarm on my 2003 R50, locking it twice disables the
motion sensor and the tilt sensor (the latter is good for when you jack one
side up and lock it to go inside the house to fetch tires, etc.).
