2012 Cooper S Convertible Issues??

Hi all. I'm in the market and have been looking at a few MCSC's; 2007, 2009 and 2012.

Until recently, 2007 was the top contender with 66k miles and a Fidelity Gold Plus warranty with 2 years and 35k left on it.

However, today I found a 2012 that I can stretch my budget to. Are most of the second gen Cooper S issues resolved in 2012? Anything I should be aware of? This one is an automatic (actually okay with this due to DC traffic) with 50,150 miles and no warranty.

I'd really love to get some feedback ASAP on this, I may be heading to check it out later today.

Thanks!!

Man this 2012 interior is beautiful. I don't think I'll be able to pass this price up.

Front bumper/hood is a bit banged up with rock chips. Maybe I'll finally get a chance to plastidip a car.

Since I'm carrying on an internal dialog here here's an update. I walked out Saturday after the dealership wouldn't honor the price my salesman and I agreed on. Something got lost in translation but I was pissed.

After reading up on the 2012s and the N18 engine, and the fact that this car was already $7k under KBB and Edmunds, I decided not to quibble over $500. Not sure if it was non-buyers remorse, not wanting to let a "good deal" get away, or what. If all goes well, I should be picking it up in the morning.

Cheers!

I think that you made a good choice. I think that MINI worked out some kinks of the N14 engine with the N18 engine.

Yes I would stay away from the 07-09
S models. Check Sonic Automotive website to compare pricing. One of our stores has a 2010 S R57 as I was looking at it for my wife. Not sure where you are but it's a good comparison either way.

As a comparison, I just took delivery today of a 2011 MCSC with 16K miles, 6-speed, HK, Auto climate, Chrome trim, etc. I had a connection at the Mercedes dealer that was selling it, and I paid $21.5K in Massachusetts. The car has 1 year left of factory warranty. Hopefully that helps with your pricing, although yours is a year newer but has more mileage....good luck either way!

Thanks guys. I ended up picking it up for under $15k. The miles are a bit high, and I wish it was optioned a bit more, but in the end, I'm thrilled with it.

About the only real update I'd like is the xenon retrofit.

Cheers!

Congrats that is a great price... we bought a very similar looking auto 2012 S vert from Mini of Alexandria with 11K miles last September for $27.5K.

Hey, now that is slick. I feel like I'm going to strain something looking at the traffic lights.

ECSTuning, thanks for the compliment. Now if only I didn't have a 5 year old who loves sitting in the back.

Here's a better picture, it's not perfect, but the dealer didn't do it justice:

That's much better with the top down. Whats nice about the wind deflectors , is they pop in and out, fold up and can be storage in the included bag in the trunk ( boot ).

That way when you have guest , it comes out and stored.

Checkered version.

Regular version.

thanks
