Smart phone/bluetooth option is a waste

Why do you only have a choice of 4 phones? Verizon has many phones in their line, many of which are bluetooth enabled.

MINIUSA only lists those phones they have tested themselves. There are Verizon phones that work. Look here: http://www.northamericanmotoring.com...lity-list.html

Edit: note that the spreadsheet in the thread lists phones by handset manufacturer, and only lists the carrier when the phone has been rebranded.

I have a Verizon Bluetooth. In fact I've had several. A couple of LZ and a Motorola that all worked with the Bluetooth. I did buy a phone that did not work, I believe it was a Casio, and I took it back the next day and got a full refund on a phone that did work with the Bluetooth.

Blackberry phones genarally work. I've used an 8100 and now an 8900 and they work. It's not the carrier, it's the phone. Motorola phones work. I bet LG phones work too. You'll be OK. My salesman didn't really have a clue what worked and the published list was so outdated it was a joke.

Many of the LG phone actually do not work as LG has been making their Bluetooth System only work with their branded equipment. It really sucks as they do actaully make a few good phone.

To RM5 go over to the NAV and Audio Section and check out the many threads on this issue and you will find many more than 4 Verizon phones that work. Also check out link posted in rkw's post it is the most up to date list there is available from real world testing, not the almost no testing that BMW/MINI does.

i believe all HTCs will work...my ozone works perfectly.

i thought this thread was going to be about how silly it was to have bluetooth in a convertible. i find myself putting the windows up and hunching up over the wheel like a grandma trying to talk into the mic.

I'm on Verizon and have hooked up both the LG Dare and the brand new Motorola Droid to my car. Neither was listed on the compatibility list, it's just as simple as pairing them and giving it a try.

I thought you were going to say it's worthless because of the sound quality. For some crazy reason, no one I call can ever hear me when I have the top down.
