R57 Dealer Checklist

I found a helpful dealer checklist for
http://northamericanmotoring.com/for...checklist.html

I am hoping existing R57 owners can use their recent purchase experience and compile a R57 dealer checklist.

Based on other posts, new R57 owners has to look out for

1. Rubbing Spots on the convertible top.
2. Vibrating Mirror (no solution)
3. Cracking noise with top up or down
4. Failing rubber on the door (should be fixed on later models)
5. Twisting seat belt
6. Pealing plastic

Add a few more

7. Confirm you get the USB iPhone cable (if you order the Mini configured as such)
8. Confirm that you get the net for the rear boot area
9. Ask them to make sure your Mini has the latest software camapigns installed. If it's from the factory it most likely will, but if it's off the lot, it may be back a rev or two. There was one Software FRM Campaign from August 2009 I believe.

Hi Zanary, how can I prove to my dealer that I need that update? Is there a bulletin or notice I can use along with proof from my vehicle as to which software version I have? My vehicle was build week 13, delivered in Germany 11 May 09.

A while back I found a secret menu or diagnostics menu that shows version numbers. Those photos are attached. Do these help?

Good question. I would have no idea how to determine that. the only reason I knew about the August one was becuase I had taken in my 09 R57 and told me that it's required after they plugged my key fob into their reader. I guess the system looks at the VIN and then makes the determination of what is required.

My mini is still at the dealer right now, but they should be done in a few more days. If you can share with me the instruction on how you got those diag pages, then I can post my and we can compare if that helps.

Instructions to get to OSD Menu/ Diagnostic Menu in SatNav

Hi Zanary and any other curious for the hidden "OSD" menu or diagnostic menu:

This Might need to be in another thread to avoid stealing the focus from this dealer list thread. But for now here are the instructions that worked for me.

Key in ignition and press start/stop engine button, motor does not have to be on, but I did leave the motor running...
press menu button so you are viewing the home screen.
Joystick down to setup.
Push in the joystick for 12 seconds (screen will go to settings)
twist or turn 3 clicks clockwise
twist 3 clicks counterclockwise
1 turn right
1 turn left
1 turn right
push in the joystick and your there

The menu shows a column at the left. Some of the menu screens have additional information. Check by pushing the joystick right to see if the Prev or Next buttons change to red color. Then you can view the other screens. To return to the left column, push joystick left.

To exit, use the home/menu button.

Here are some pics to give you an idea of what you'll see. I don't know what all the info could be used to verify. I was hoping to find info on the software or hardware versions of the sat nav to add to the dealer checklist.

Watch out for non-retracting seat belts and bad high pressure fuel pumps

My car has had two major issues that took it to the dealer,

high pressure fuel pump had to be replaced within first 3000 miles.

driver side seat belt just doesn't retract. was replaced once and the new one is not so great either!

Good luck
